You can't just skim one cylinder.. :rotfl: Its the whole head that should have been done.

    Someone is talking B/S here.

I'm glad you said this as I was trying to get my head round "skimmed 1 cylinder" and the overheating problem

@OP ... You can bore (and line) a cylinder, but you skim a cylinder head. If you skim a head then you skim the whole thing, not just the bit around a single cylinder.

If this had been done prior to you buying the car then they should have made you aware ... the dealer is the supposed expert so should know the status of what they're selling.

As I said I'm not an expert, maybe I misunderstood or twist some words, anyway, I'll have a full report from the garage.

My question is if by law, can I have the dealership to fix my car? It's not a MUST to get a new engine, if they think they can fix it they are more then welcome to do it, I just want my car fixed or my money back.

How old is this car and what mileage has it done?
I've never been told that the car had previosly problems with the engine.

Yet it had the engine management light on when you bought it, which they say they fixed... Is that not indicative of a previous engine fault?

I'll ask the question more directly, how old is the car and how much did you pay for it? When it comes to consumer rights and secondhand items, especially cars, matters are not so straight forward. Not returning the car to the supplying dealer for him to diagnose/fix also muddies the waters

If the engine light check is on it doesn't mean that it's an engine fault, could be something like a airflow sensor, spark plugs, etc.

The car is from 2009 and I paid £4800 for it.

125000 when I bought the car and I did let's say 1000 miles, 1500 maximum
