Office or Word on iPad Pro

I intend to upgrade from my iPad Air to iPad Pro after the holiday season, I’m hoping to get a price reduction. My iPad Air is almost out of space
Personally I don’t like Pages, maybe it’s because I’m not using a keypad. It’s more likely I’m used to Word on my old PC
Anyway I don’t need an expensive licence for Office or Word. I have an old copy of Office on Disk, one that doesn’t expire, and I’m wondering if and how I might transfer that Office onto my iPad? At the end of the day I only want it for personal use.
So can it be done and how ? That said I’m not holding out much hope - after all we’re talking about Apple !

You can only use office 365 on a ipad, unfortunatly this is a subscription model.
There are alternatives like libre office available.0 -

If the only driver behind the upgrade is storage, it might be cheaper to shift some data to iCloud or another cloud storage.
Unfortunately the free basic version of MS word is limited to devices with screen smaller than 10.1"
You can grab cheap O365 license from Argos for £40, then sell the McAfee license on e-bay for £5-10 to make it even cheaper. You can buy up to 5 years in advance (while it's discounted) and apply them to your account.0 -
I've been using office 365 for a year or two via iPad 10.5 and more recently 11"
Word is fine as is excel /outlook and One Drive.
Think I pay monthly after my free o2 12mths subs expired.
Re checked 5.99 per month which is reasonable.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
Why are you not considering Google Docs for a change? It's free and easy to use. Since it's for your personal use is there any difference?0

If you are already "happily" paying £6/m Check the Argos deal I have linked above and save yourself some ££
The monthly subs was my chosen next office choice whilst I decided if a yearly subs is required.
I'll decide over next few weeks, not a priority, though I appreciate total cost rises after a few months.

At the moment my iPad Air wouldn’t hold a new program: at the moment I’ve only 1.5 Gig lift
As I only use my iPad for personal use paying an ongoing licence really doesn't really make sense, so I’ll go a free program. As a matter of interest which ape Word and Excel the most
As I mentioned above I don’t like the Apple office offering even though it comes pre-loaded0
