So this is where I fall down as I don't know where I would find out the outdoor temp setting so will have a look in the manual and let you know. The only 2 temps I think I can change are the room and heat curve................ Off to have a look

You would really be well off giving the manufacture a call I think rather than tinkering too much.

  • I think you're right. When we moved in the previous owners said it was all setup and to leave it but the house was like an oven so we definitely needed to change it. Definitely a case of where a little knowledge could be a dangerous thing so time to ring them. Thanks again for your help.

It probably needs resetting back to factory settings then tweaking from there if need be.

  • Hi - just a quick update. I left the room temp at 20c but did put the heat curve down from 37c to 36c and then monitored the daily usage. Pleased to report that total usage has now gone from 60kwh per day down to about 35kwh and 41kwh being the highest, so this has definitely helped. We put a thermometer in the living room and it maintained 20c . Thanks to everyone for all your help.

You could look at reducing the heat curve a little more and see where the optimum point is of it not keeping the rooms warm then put back to the setting that works.

Are you also monitoring the outside temperatures when you do all of this. Don't forget that the heatpump has to work a lot harder when it's cold outside so you really need to try and relate your consumption with the weather as well.

Providing that the system can maintain your internal temperature at a comfortable level, then it might be worth while tweaking the curve down by another degree. In the end the most efficient way to run it is at the lowest flow temperature that maintains your internal temperature. As said, its a case of trial and error

I've been monitoring mine for the best part of 10 years and I've got a pretty good idea of how the system performs against the outside temp. I use a programme which compares my energy consumption against degree days. It gives me an efficiency graph which pretty well tracks the temperature changes outside.
