Can I still drive my nans car?
Good evening, my Nan has a car and so do I, I am insured to drive other cars through my insurance.
My Nan has just noticed her driving licence has expired about 6 months ago, as her car is insured am I still allowed to drive it even if her licence has expired?

Possibly not, as her insurance has probably lapsed along with her licence.
And it may be a requirement of your 'other vehicle' insurance that the vehicle is also covered by its own insurance for its main driver.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
It's all depends on what your insurance says about the insurance status of the vehicle your driving.0

The car is definitely insured I can guarantee that, she just hasn’t realised her licence has expired, my insurance does allow me to drive other cars.0

Does her insurance remain valid even though her licence has expired and she has not declared this to her insurer?
Have you actually read her certificate of insurance and policy document? If not, you cannot guarantee that the car is insured - and if it isn't, and you're driving it, you will be the first one prosecuted (she will be the second one, for aiding the offence).A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

The car is insured for the OP's nan, but the OP is driving it on her own insurance - only issue would be if the insurance is cancelled and the plod pull her over. If she was involved in an incident, her own insurers would be liable, not her nans. Don't see that the nan's license status makes any difference - unless she actually drives the car. Could be just parked up and be covered by insurance for F&T.0

She can't legally drive it, but it's still covered.0 -
When my mother decided not to renew her licence (she’s over 70) her insurance company, Direct Line, told me that her insurance would continue until the renewal date and then it would lapse.
She would not be able to have a car insurance policy with them without a driving licence.0 -

Also, all policies lapse at the renewal date.0 -
Sorry, I thought it was clear - she doesn’t have a driving licence (any more), therefore she cannot have a car insurance policy...0
