I bought a car on Salvage Auction without V5C or any registration document, this is specified on invoice l have.I promptly applied for the V5C including requesting for the car to be SORN. I received message stating l could not SORN the car as it was not in my name. DVLA acknowledged my car was off road in their letter and advised me to complete SORN when l receive the V5C in that letter they indicated the V5C would be processed on 15th November letter dated 1 November 19.

I was phoned by my wife today to say my car had been clamped, l still have not received the V5C, l still cannot SORN the car. To complicate things the car cannot be unclamped without Tax which l cannot apply for without V5C and l will have to pay £260 fine despite DVLA records showing they have my B5C application paid for but not yet processed.

I thought l tried to do everything right by the law but delays at DVLA have caused me this grief.Anyone understand and has advise on my predicament.

Just outside my house l have no drive way so it was in the immediate road. Thank you for looking at the post and for asking.

This page explains how to sorn a vehicle
    https://www.gov.uk/make-a-sorn

The bottom of that page specifically deals with those who do not have alog book or the log book is not in their name.

Refer to part 3 of form V890 for a clear definition of what declaring sorn means.

    End of thread?

Even if the SORN was in place, it would still be clamped based on where it was parked - not off road.
