When my Father died 3 years ago, all bills and insurances were in his name.
All of the utility and insurance companies bar one switched them to her name when I phoned to request, and I wasn't even an executor. That one wanted a copy of the death certificate first which I sent by email.

In this case they were married, shared the same surname, same address and joint bank account so the only change was from Mr to Mrs.

In hindsight I am rather surprised that they took my word for it!
