Morning all! Light is finaly working and is blindingly bright. OH was so pleased he left it on all night because it was so bright it lit up the front garden. When I came back from Stitch and B*tch it was still on, so I had to tell him, yes dear, i think everyone knows we have a new light now {snort}It's good though, ow we can fetch wood for the dire without knocking it all down [ it looks very precariously stacked this time but Im not saying anything out loud]
We had fish in a rosemary and tomato sauce last night, was lovely, no idea about tonight but i did make my version of nana's magic soup as I was cooking anyway so we have that for lunch. Whizzed that all up while I was waiting for the kettle to boil this monring.
Today I might go and buy a new light for the hallway because the porch light being so bright has just emphasised how dim all the other lights are. The porch is LED, the rest are energy saving bulbs, so I'll have to check which uses less electric...
Some light sorting to do today in terms of decluttering, put my tools away, hoovering and sort out the stuff in the lean to a bit.
We need to move the kettle because the boiler man had no idea why the board went but our kettle was near it so it's possible steam got into it and messed it up so we have to move the kettle and coffee/tea making equipment.

NPM, I didn't know what to say yesterday so I left it to today. I didn't know anything about your background but had a read and am pleased tha you turned something awful into a tool to help other people struggling.I'm not sure I'd have had the strength or motivation. Speky, good news about your neck, hope you have a good weekend! TA, hope your windows are better cold excluders...Gers, good to hear you're doing well, long may that continue, or short with regards to recovery :) tru, fortitude in dealing...just tell them you don't know yet, but leave your number and you'll get back to them...AOD, hope the car is repairable...ruby, here's hoping the injection will work! dumpling, yes liberating isn't it when you get rid of stuff that feels like it's weighing you down. I felt like that when I de-stashed my sewing stuff. Hey everyone reading along...SO, you still there? P.S.congratulations on a named GC snoozer, sounds nice, hope steves temp goes down!..Fantastic Friday

  • Absolutly thew it down all day yesterday, so I did not go to Aldi went this morning instead, the roads were ok, although there was quilt a lot of standing water in the gutters.

I opened a packet of Aldi Pilau rice yesteday, it was disgusting, green mold and stank, so it went back today, I put it in a plastic bag so it would not stink my car out. Saw the assistant manager, he was shocked, I got my money back and a free packet of rice, result.

After I unpacked the car I went to the newsagent to get the TV Choice, there was water right across the lane, by the blocked drain, fortunately it was not deep, a car coming the other way went through it as speed, the bow wave was huge, went over the roof of the car!! I was not a happy soul.

Fish and chips tonight as per usual. I have taken a frozen tea cake out to make a bread and butter pudding for dessert, with some cream.

    Hello all
I had to wrap my face up with a scarf this morning as the wind was icy and can't cope with more pain. I have to go back next week to see GP and there was talk of upping the dosage of the tablets.
We went out to Lidl first for golden syrup and then to Aldi as the latter don't sell it, however both were super busy  I shall have to get a handle on my food spending though as it seems to be getting out of hand again.( I did buy a bunch of roses for myself ( £1.99 ) and one for DD, my only treat lately oooh ! and a box of chocs as a xmas present !
I now feel shattered so have had a snack lunch and this afternoon I need to sort out the shopping as I've only put the frozen stuff away and the rest is still dumped in it's bags in the dining room !
This evening I am going with DD to hear DGD sing in the school choir, but I don't know where the venue is, it's usually a church or a care home. Anyway DD will be driving so I shall sit in the car like Lady Muck :rotfl:.
Tea tonight will be corned beef hash, think I' ll get my chef on it...... he makes it sooooo much better than me ;):D.

taff we were lucky to miss the snow. However it hit the Brynmawr to Ebbw Vale road ( the one we used to go to Trago the day before ) and it caused no end of accidents, none serious thank goodness.
NPM well done on the money raised. I too remember Cranky telling us the sad news about Noah. I could never imagine such heartache. Hugs.
Snoozer that is unusual but lovely, I like it. May start a new name trend. Hope Steve feels better now.
Csarina blimey you're not having a very good day. Gone off rice and a soaking !
TA hope those new windows do the trick.
Gintot that cough seems to be hanging on. Give it a good talking to...... or drown it in alcohol :rotfl: Nanny's orders !!
RR I hope your foot keeps on getting better, especially for work next week.
LWW as Brucie says " nice to see you, to see you.... ", Any chance you could get a non alcoholic wine just for Xmas day. I'm sure I saw a few different ones in Tes*o. ( I appreciate it's not the same as alcoholic wine though :( )
AOD hope you can sort out getting to and from work easily, without the car.
Tru hope you can get a more peaceful day and Scampi is no longer climbing walls.
Take care all. Hugs to anyone who is poorly, recuperating or just because they want one.
    nan xx

Very cold again today......but dry so that's a plus.

OH went off for a walk around the fields he obviously thought that I was not going today as I did a few turns around the front yard earlier.

    Csarina...yuch!

Very tired, think that I will have a short nap before the next trip round the yard....frequent 5 minute strolls seem to keep me more supple than one longer walk.

    Have a good weekend

  • Afternoon folks and lovely to have you back with us LWW and NPM.

After the early heavy rain we weren't supposed to get any more BUT, just as the window fitters arrived at 1.15, down came the rain again! Rain didn't stop play however and they cracked on regardless. With the doors wide open and windows out I was frozen stiff! I am so pleased with my new bathroom window, it looks so much better than the old one and I can't stop admiring it! It has improved the look of the whole bathroom too. The dining room window doesn't look any different really, other than I can see out of it! (It had blown and misted up between the panes) So all in all it has been money well spent!

I have yet to christen my tea and don't know what I fancy! I shall have a freezer dive shortly and see what I come up with.

Have a nice evening if you can folks and I hope the invalids are taking it easy and resting up. Take care xx ps SNOOZER that's one name I would never have guessed but I quite like it!

  • Good evening chums, been awol for a couple of days as this blessed arm will just not behave, and heal as quickly as I would like it to.

The fracture clinic rang on Wednesday afternoon and said the consultants has studied my Xray results thoroughly and as far as he can see no bones have been broken (that apparently was the good news) the not so good news is as its a rotator cuff injury there are apparently four muscles where the top of the arm slots into the shoulder socket, and it seems all four muscles and tendons/ligaments have had a severe trauma when i fell full length with my weight on my bad right arm (the one with lymphedema in it)

This is not so good as because of the lymphedema it's difficult to do much in the way of repair, in case it causes more further damage to my arm itself .(I cannot have an injection or cut or graze or any open wound on that arm because it sets up such a flare up of infection I usually end up in a strong drip in hospital for weeks on end

A month or so ago I had a tiny minute paper cut to my finger that put me in bed with a high fever for a week on strong antibiotics drip at home and I had to fight not to be taken into hospital then.

Its just something I have to live with for the rest of my life as I contacted it through chemo and radiotherapy which saved my life.It leaves you with an arm twice the size of the other one which itself is a pain, especially when you want to by clothes

So yesterday DD and I went back to the fracture clinic and a nice young man fitted me with a harness type sling with upteen buckles and belts to keep my arm in a steady position so the deep soft tissue damage can heal up.I h=feel like I have been strapped to a chastity belt :) (chance would be a fine thing at my ancient age :))

I have been staying at my DD for the past week and not allowed to do anything at all jus rest this blooming arm.I am definitely not a patient patient and I have a list of things as long as you arm to do this week which just won't happen. I can't cook knit hoover drive shop or do anything as I only have one working hand. very frustrating to say the leas
Even the daftest thing like taking a shower takes twice as long. As for writing this letter its taken me the best part of a good forty minutes as I have had to go back and correct the spelling mistakes. I am typing with my left hand and I am normally right handed Grr.

But I am reading a lot of books at least and sitting don a lot so I am hoping that all will be well. The fracture clinic said 2 -4 weeks but I am hoping to be up and running in half that time.

I am like the white rabbit always busy rushing around .I have had to cancel three things this week as it is. and I have a stack of things to sort out before Christmas.

Missed the book club christmas knees up as well this week.

Reading through, I was sorry to see NPM's post, makes my moans very slight in comparison. I cannot begin to imagine how she is feeling bless her
My condolences to you and yours, but what a legacy she has set up in his name, he will never be forgotten,So sad.
My love and best wishes go to you and yours. May you have happy memories to help you through the dark days my dear.

to everyone else who are struggling with illness both for themselves, or are caring for poorly friends and relations my prayers are for you all

    Much love chums
feel free to rant and rave and get your worries off your chest

    Love 'n' stuff
