Scotland parking fine

Hello
I just received a letter before claim from Gladstone’s solicitors for a parking fine that’s increased to £160. I live in Scotland and have never contacted them or parking lots (the original company) and wasn’t the actual driver at the time. What’s the best thing for me to do. Pay the fine? Or ignore completely? I think the next step is maybe a court letter but don’t know how it works being in Scotland Iv read that I should ignore it due to no keeper liability but will they still take me to court
Thank you

Are you sure it calls itself a Letter Before Claim? (This is unusual for a Scottish resident keeper to receive from Gladrags). Who does it advise you to pay? What exactly does it say?
Do not pay them, do not contact them (until you get further advice here) ... currently in Scotland only the driver can be pursued for a private parking invoice; a registered keeper has no liability whatsoever.0 -
There is currently no keeper liability in Scotland so if you weren't the driver they can't hold you liable.
Does this letter contain financial information forms?0 -
Yeh it has letter before claim on the letter then states - we act on behalf of the claimant and we have now been instructed to commence legal action against you to recover the amount due.
It says I need to pay Gladstone’s directly the money and gives me their method of pay either online, phone, cheque or they have gave me their bank details to pay. No financial information forms are included.
On my address it has my address then edinburgh but doesn’t include Scotland anywhere in my address
Hope this helps0 -
I bet the brainiacs haven't realised Edinburgh is in Scotland. Does it mention county court?0
-
Doesn’t say county court. The only bit about court it mentions is
“Our client is satisfied that it has sufficient evidence to support this claim and if necessary will rely on this evidence in court”0 -
It is not a fine.
You can either ignore this and see if you get papers from a Scottish court or, tell the scammers and their scamlicitors that you were not the driver and since a keeper cannot be held liable in Scotland they should give up now and save themselves money.
In addition, complain to the landowner and your MP about this unregulated scam. You should also complain to the SRA that you are out of jurisdiction and are being harassed by these scamlicitors.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

I would tell them you weren't the driver. Do not tell them who was driving as that would not be doing anyone any favours.0

Okay so you think it’s best to contact them to advise I wasn’t the driver and that I’m in Scotland where we don’t have keeper liability and advised that I will be reporting them to the SRA?0

I would. Use good old snail mail. Send it first class and get free proof of posting from a post office.0
