Royal Mail Delays?

Is anyone else having problems. I posted several parcels last Monday to various addresses throughout the UK, but none have arrived with the buyer yet. All were sent recorded first class, but checking on their website, none have been delivered. I've asked the local PO and the sorting office, but both claim that there is nothing wrong at the moment (but then again they aren't entirely honest at the best of times!). Anyone else having problems?

I've just had 3 items all sent on the same day (well according to the dispatch note), one arrived last Tuesday, the next on Wednesday and the other one today!
The one that arrived today was for a birthday on Saturday just gone....typical!
I'm finding it very hit and miss at the moment, cards stamped as first class and franked on 21st didn't arrive until the 24th or 26th.
The usual dross such as credit I don't want is still getting through though....but that might be as some other postal bods are involved with those.

My friend had a letter dated 14th sent 1st class, from about 3 miles away that turned up today:mad:
It was for an interview tomorrow as well- fortunately they had the semse to ring as she hadn't responded.
So I would say they they have problems!!
Or the package I had airmail from Hong Kong dated 23/11 delivered today (26/11) with a weekend in the middle. :T0 -
there are delays(going by how things are in my office) however your local office maybe smaller/better staffed than mine.
for us the later starts have caused massive issues. going to be a horrendous xmas given how things are now0 -
Yes I have a problem as well (apart from the Special delivery fiasco which I promise I won;'t mention again). Sent package 1st class to Nothern Ireland on the 16th November and it has failed to arrive. I have promised the buyer a refund tomorrow if it still isn't there as she looks like a good genuine buyer with good feedback. She also has left and received feedback for items sent to her that were posted after my item. She was a cheque payer so I have no fear of a chargeback but I offer the same quick refund for all my buyers regardless of how they paid.
I don't even hold out much hope of getting a refund from the Rm either, I'm still trying to chase up my last claim that was submitted in September.
I realise I'm not really doing so badly overall, 2 lost items in a little more than 3 months is actually a tiny percentage of those I send and of course the losses are tax deductible. It does make me nervous though especially as I have a holiday coming up..I hate going away thinking that maybe the moment I leave someone will query a lost item and will have negged me before I come home to respond!
I think it was 3 or maybe 4 years ago that I had a disaster in the run up to Christmas with whole bag loads of items going missing. That was the time my items were semi tracked anonymously through the system to see where they were being 'lifted' and I did get full compensation as well as an extra payment in goodwill for the inconvenience. I remember it well, me and a lovely chap at the RM somewhere in Scotland (well, he had a gorgeous accent) spent many a happy hour on the phone at 6.30am discussing what I was sending that day and how it was wrapped. ive had it too!
all my items going a fair distance seem to get there ok,but i recently sent an item only 18 miles away and it took 2 weeks, this was first class (apparently)...work permit granted!0 -
well i was discussing xmas with my manager today.
im telling you if there are many offices like mine(and i see no reason why not as my office is a decent performing one) then xmas is going to be a nightmare
we already have a packet backlog.before the late starts came in the only time we had a backlog was during xmas or with massive holiday/sick absenses
we have been informed the callers office will not be open later for customer collections as we dont have staff to cover it!
we already have walks 'failing' and being streamed.this is where only stamped and dated items go out
sorry but expect massive problems if you are an ebay seller0 -
We're not having too many problems with Recorded delivery parcels but the last two international signed for parcels haven't arrived.
One was going to France and the other has gone to Holland.
We've had to replace the french one (sent that airsure in the vague hope it'll get there this time) and I'm waiting to hear from the dutch one to see if it arrives this week.
I thought we were unlucky - but maybe they are being held up in the system?
Also I still haven't received my letter from HMRC reassuring me that my details that were on the child benefit discs are perfectly safe!!0 -
i dont think HMRC sent them all together.i delivered more just today and doubt ive delivered to enough people to cover all affected on my duty0

I have found regular post can be maybe a day or so late, but on the plus side my missing parcel that should have been here ages ago turned up in my sorting office!!!
I only popped in, just on the off chance as it was the helpful man on the desk and bingo! Just in the nick of time before it made it's way all the way back to Canada!
I did see they had put up a notice to ask people not to abuse the staff in there, which I imagine is a result of the strike etc!!
I really am dreading the posting of all my xmas stuff, it was really stressful when I had the odd thing going missing, let alone with loads potentially going out over the next few weeks.
Well done Royal Mail bosses - pick the busiest time of the year to tinker with the system and really wind everyone up! Surely picking Spring to ease in new systems would have made more sense?? Aah well, what do I know, I'm only a customer!! lol

fair point.especially given the new speed restrictions( the given reason for late starts) are not law right now!
oh as for the abuse of staff at the door.its ongoing and has been for a long time.
verbal and up to physical.someone in my office was spat at not so long ago.
i can tell you anyone who did that to me would see the error of their ways soon after
a few weeks ago i had a woman screaming at me,than crying as Ihad lost her package.she even pointed to the sign you mention and said no wonder you get abuse with idiots like you working here
after spending 30 minutes speaking to her, making enquiries and calling the company she was expecting the parcel from.
i then found out it was going by parcelforce and tracked as being held at the parcelforce office.no apology or thanks.she just walked out of the office0
