HSBC Advance £175 Offer

Got my £175 today, think it has been a week since the switch was complete. Easy enough
So now what I don't understand still ... can I cancel my standing orders and do I need to pay in the £1750/month? I am using the HSBC savings account, so I need an HSBC account but I believe I don't need the advance one so it can be 'downgraded' to a 'normal' account if I decide not to pay in.
I didn't see anything in the T&C about them taking money back, so don't see why I can't remove SO and not pay in.
I'd be interested in this. I have no intention of paying in £1750 if I don't have to, and I don't want the account at all. I was either thinking of closing it down (or switching as thats easier)0 -

* Check your Advance T&Cs as I can't remember which applies.0 -

Hi All,
Just wanted to say that I applied for an HSBC Advance account on 7th January, got a text saying thanks for requesting to switch straight away, but then heard nothing else at all until 1st February at which point I got another text.
I chased them to ask what was going on. They confirmed I'd been accepted and then I suddenly starting getting emails saying welcome and just got the card in the post today.
It took such a long time, and I heard nothing at all, that I'd assumed they'd not accepted me. But turns out they are just incredibly slow...0 -
Thanks for the update, wallofbeans. I applied on the 22nd of January, I got a text message on the 24th to confirm the application, then silence. I called them a couple of times and apparently they are dealing with a backlog of applications and there is nothing we can do but wait for a decision.0
