Looks like only the paid-for version (Recover Keys) will recover a Win 10 product key.

Well, I have the free version and it got me the W10 key when I last used it IIRC

According to the comparison table, the free version gets you the serial (and not for Windows 10 either) - the paid-for version gets you the product key.

But I don't recall ever using it, so if people have had positive results then I'll bow to their actual experience.

For Windows 10 its irrelevant anyway providing the machine has been activated at some point with Windows 10 then you don't need the key anyway, and machines that came with 10 were pre activated anyway.

As has previously been stated on the forum, all the computers that had the free upgrade to 10 from 7 or 8 through the official upgrade programme all had the same product key which showed up on Jellybean and friends.

Product key can be found by using an elevated command prompt and typing :-

    wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey

No need for 3rd party programs

Doesn't work here in a Win10 VM and on a Win10 laptop which both got upgraded from Win7. It just returns "OA3xOriginalProductKey" and 3 empty lines.

I've tried to access the product key using Powershell and Cmd prompt but no licence number shows up

Seems some just chose to ignore the OP.

Following on from my post #12; https://www.tenforums.com/software-apps/2577-showkeyplus.html

As I wrote before, it looks like a KMS licencing solution was utilised. Better to run a clean install of a download of Windows 10 Pro 32 bit direct from Microsoft and activate it with one of the inexpensive keys.

If he took a short cut with activation, he might take short cuts elsewhere.

Seems some don't understand the concept of discussion boards.

Now this being a technical forum - and license keys being wanted but not shown , it doesn't hurt to ensure the correct commands are being entered now does it ?

The information could be of a help to other users :)

    This isn't the Everywhere show

OP, try to ignore the rather arrogant insinuation that your not capable of implementing a solution without taking cuts, I have sent you quick permanent fix to your inbox :money:

Ditto here on my W10 laptop. This was originally W7 and in-place upgraded to W10. I've since done a fresh install to an SSD.

ShowkeyPlus returns licence info ... the product key appears to be a generic key, based on a Google search.
  • Usually all the licenses are lifelong :) unless you change the motherboards
