COURT PAPERS RECIEVED
My car was parked briefly outside my boyfriend's flat as his kid was ill and he needed my car to get her to hospital/ walk in if it got worse. There were signs outside the back of other shops and in some lay-bys saying no parking but not on the land behind this one. It was early Sunday morning and the shop wasn't open. It was only there briefly and I got a ticket. I appealed and heard nothing back. I just received a text from Gladstone solicitors this morning saying
Due: £160.00
You have not responded to our Pre-Action Letter. Please visit !!!!!!/gsl-pay or call 01565 755088 to avoid court action. Quote Ref: 103030.4300
I've researched and it seems to be about the ticket I got.
I called to find out more and even though it says option 2 to speak to someone it goes no where just back to option to pay. It says go online to request info but all links say waiting to be completed.... Only option they're giving send to be the one to pay.
Advice and help appreciated
Thanks in advance

Which parking company is it?
If the appeal was submitted online, have you checked your spam folder to see if a response ended up there?
Don't contact the debt collectors. The advice here is to do nothing whatsoever (except to keep all correspondence) until and unless you get a Letter Before Claim. However meanwhile you need to get up to speed on all this. Start with the Newbies' thread. It may seem daunting, but take your time. Don't panic but don't bury your head in the sand.
Did you try a landowner complaint? The hardest part might be finding the overall landowner and even that shouldn't be too difficult. It is a bit late for a landowner cancellation, but check it out anyway. Why not go into the shop the car was parked behind, explain the situation suitably apologetically and ask who owns or manages the land? There's a chance that the shopkeeper will be sympathetic - after all, it should be obvious by now that the car in question hasn't been parked there regularly (I hope).0 -
Yeah it was only parked there the once and my boyfriend now lives with me so never again..... They say they've sent me a pre action letter but I've not received anything... Well not to the address the car is registered. That's why I'm panicking as I've not had anything from them. No idea if I got a reply in my spam as it was over a year ago and spam gets emptied weekly and I don't recall seeing anything.
I could go in and speak to the shop keeper. The ticket says it was issued on their behalf as it mentioned the shop name.
I've read all the threads0 -
Do you think that they are sending correspondence to the address that the car was registered when it first happened? I've moved since0

Yes. They can only apply once to the DVLA for the registered keepers details. They will have done this soon after the parking event.
Sent a data rectification notice to the ppc and Gladstones giving your new address and tell them the date you moved. Tell them you want copies of everything sent to the old address and we can go from there.
They will want proof of ID. A copy of your V5c is sufficient.0 -
We still need to know which PPC this is.
Definitely go into the shop and have a chat with the owner.0 -
They never sort my details I gave them them when I appealed. The online details that I replied to have since disappeared as I've tried to go on there and send new address.... Gladstone only give me options to pay so should I write to their address online?
I never said I was driving as advised not to disclose on here just said car was parked.... Guessing they got my details from DVLA as put two and two together as I never got a notice to keeper.0 -
Ask the DVLA who has requested your details and when. That will tell you which ppc this is. Email Gladstones with your new address and ask them who their client is.0

Have you read this?

What does your friend's lease/AST say about arking? Does it mention permits? Does it mention paying a parking parasite silly money if you do nor display one. If it is silent on the matter them your lease/AST has primacy and, if the are daft enough to take this to court they may get a bloody nose, read this

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.lYou never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
