I am with British gas at my business workplace. I dont use gas at all but I have to pay the standing charge unless i want my metre removed, so i was told. anyone know whos got the cheapest standing charge?? thank you
Thing is, if you pay a lower standing charge, you may pay more per kwh. You need to look at both and the annual cost to compare. Work out your annual consumption in kwh and use one of the comparison sites - not sure if they all do business tariffs but pretty sure some do.0 -
Just done a comparison with all the sites shown on here as we are with npower who have not lowered their prices yet. All of the comparison sites gave npower as the top supplier for saving us money! We are on dual fuel standard tariff, i.e. no standing charge. It seems that npowers Sign Online Dual Fuel V14 would save us £250 a year? Would this only be available to new customers? This includes a standing charge, so is it possible to phone npower and ask them to switch us to this tariff? I suppose this would mean we would not get the cashback though that the sites are offering.
Seems odd to me that npower is the cheapest even though they are the only ones not to have lowered their prices yet.0 -
Besides moneysupermarket, which other sites offer a reward for switching ?Thank you for reading this message.0

If you sign p to npower at the minute directly or both gas and electric they give you £50 in 12 months time if your still with them. no matter how you pay or anything. But you have to call them up to get it and ASK for it!0

Whilst on this can anyone say if the sign up freebies ie Wine, vouchers are limited to 1 per customer, or 1 per year, or can you just switch again as soon as youve got the freebie?0

No u cant i per household0

I've just done a comparison on Energyhelpline and Moneysupermarket, and both say that npower would be cheaper than Ebico for me. I know npower still haven't announced any price changes, but I'm wary of going back to them from personal experience (long story short: between them and eon they c0cked up my electric switchover and it took months to sort out).0

Strange the price drops occur just before summer when consumption goes down anyway.
Surely the wisest time to switch will be September when you can judge which will be the best deals for the heavier winter bills.
Having gone through this winters heavy consumption making a rushed change now isn't going to reduce the bills you've already incurred.
What is probably the best strategy is to see if you can find a supplier who is consistently cheaper over the long term, has anyone ever tried to do this.
Not one of the switch sites ever gives you information on past pricing or has gone to the trouble of doing the reasearch we really need.
Perhaps if prices could be graphed we could identify which companies are always fastest to put prices up/ slowest to reduce, or identify those that put up prices just before the heavy winter bills, analysis of this would be much more useful than rushing headlong from one supplier to the next every few months.0 -
What a clever idea. Maybe somebody should suggest it to one of the comparison companies.Thank you for reading this message.0

I did a couple of price comparison's yesterday and it looks like the Uswitch and Energy Helpline haven't updated the tariffs yet for Scottish Power, etc.. I presume this is because they do not come into effect until the end of March. It does make it difficult to compare like with like and I think it will be worth waiting until then to get a true comparison. It looked like British Gas Click Energy 6 would be the cheapest for me but their prices came down 19/02. Has anyone else noticed this?If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat0
