Yes, topcashback is a reliable site. It is always a good idea to first check those cashback sites in addition to taking Martin's advice to use Energyhelpline. The extra up-to-£110 in your pocket rather than Martin's pocket is a good idea.0

Thanks for such a prompt response. I have a penalty of £50 to pay when I switch but the Kw cost per unit make it a great deal and if I use the cash back I would get £40 so that takes care of the situation.
Also going to use the site to book a hotel at Manchester Airport. Was going to use the secret hotel with last minute but if I use the cash back I can book the hotel I want at just an extra £5.
I think I am being cautious just because I have no experience.
Thanks again.

Can I use topcashback to switch my electricity or I am better to do the energyhelpline. TCB offer £40 cash back and the other £15.
Anyone used them. Never used any cash back site previously.
Have a good weekend. Thanks
Sue
I can confirm what's been said about Topcashback. Every bit as good as Quidco, and without the £5 annual membership fee.
Topcashback also paid out to their members recently when one of the major affiliate networks had problems. Quidco have shown no sign whatever of paying up.

Many people, including me, have ditched Quidco altogether after this.0 -
Thanks a million for that information. It is good to hear that people have used this site and found it worked well for them.
I had never heard of this site until I looked at MSE.
Thanks again

Can anyone o0ffer any advioce on switching. We are currently with EDF on Dual Fuel rtae and they have advised that we will be switched from our Online V5 tarrif over to their standard one at the end of this month.
When I go to the normal comparison sites they show potential headline savings of a £200-300. However, the unit rates don't appear to support this. Also, most current ofers also seem to want to levy a standing charge.
Am i missing something or are the comparison sites very complicated ????
The unit rates make up only a very small part of the overall charging structure of most suppliers. If it was a simple case of comparing unit prices, comparison sites probably wouldn't exist.
The comparison sites take into consideration all parts of the charging structure that make up the tariff and so the annual cost to you. If you click on the tariff you are interested in, most suppliers will give full details of all the parts they have included to make up that annual cost.
There are lots of different types of tariffs, and many do exist that do not include a traditional daily standing charge. However, unless you have a very strange usage profile (such as periods of no/low usage), then what difference does it make how the final cost is arrived at (i.e. whether or not it has a daily standing charge), as long as it's the cheapest annual cost solution for you?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Topcashback is the top cashback sites Martin recommends, closely followed by quidco and cashbackkings

Of course, you should look to maximise any cashback opportunity using whichever of the recommeded sites gives you the maximum return.
Warning: as per the article I linked to, cash-back sites are not 100% guaranteed for a number of reasons (many of which may not be the fault of ths cashback site) Hence why it says:...Thankfully, most times, it's fine, but it's why cashback should be seen as a useful added extra not a core..."Now to trolling as a concept. .... saw on Facebook that Martin says that there is £70 cashback if you swap to Scottish Power via MoneySupermarket.com in addition to the usual £30 cashback.
I can't find anything about this anywhere else - including on Moneysupermarket.com.
Does anyone else know any details?0 -

I have found the best way is to use them as an indicaton of which company charges the least. Go to those companies web sites and, using your specific consumption figures and their many price lists, compare how much you would pay at the different rates.
The cheapest is the one to go for!!!
Thanks, just opted for a duel fuel deal that's certainly cheaper than what current supplier is offering and took the free case of wine offer with link from this site.RosieTiger - Highest £242,000 Feb 2004
Lightbulb Dec 2008 £146,000 by March 2026:eek:
MFi3T2 and T3 No 28 - Dec 2009 Start Balance £117,000

There are also ways to save money through various alternative energy systems. I've never messed with them too much, but I've heard others say great things about them.:money:0

There's something similar on confused.com. Not explored it fully because I'm already with Scottish Power and current customers obviously can't take advantage.
