Personally, I don't think the prices displayed now will take the end of march price cuts in to account and these sites (where they can) effectively allow you to sign up to something that's available now i.e. you are signing up to a current tariff and not a future offer (albeit a definite offer) - if you see what I mean.if i had known then what i know now0

hi,
thanks for your replies.
I will wait until April then.
I think this should be made clear, because I just saw the "switch now"on the main page, and was going to do just that. It was only when I read on the BBC site about Scottish Power prices being effective from 31st March that I thought to ask.
Thanks again!0 -
We just found out we're with M Power for electric is this bad?0

The company is called Npower and not M Power.
If you have been with them a long time you are bound to now be on a very expensive and uncompetitive tariff, especially if they are the original supplier of electricity in your area.0 -

Is there any way to complain about the tariff you are on?0 -

Uswitch have assured me they take in to account announced forthcoming price cuts. This is because usually the prices change almost straight away but it will be at least 4 to 6 weeks by the time you have moved supplier. However they obviously can't take in to account a price cut that has not yet been announced.0 -

No if you don't like the tariff you are on you identify a cheaper one at https://www.energylinx.co.uk, https://www.whichswitch.co.uk or https://www.uswitch.com then you don't actually switch to it using those sites but instead after creating a free acoount at https://www.topcashback.co.uk where you will earn further cashback from the company you switch to This is the cashback that would otherwise have been paid to the switch comparison website if you had placed your order there.
Why do you feel this great fear of moving from the tariff you are on or supplier you are currently with. Nothing changes with the stuff physically coming down the electricity wires when you switch suppliers. All that happens is that the meter read figures get entered in to a different energy company's computer.
Unlike a broadband switch you can't have your service cut off due to switching because nothing physically changes on your supply. A disconnection if you refused to pay your bill is a completely separate action which you have to be given notice of in advance.0 -
Can somebody please tell me how long the 'leading' supplier generally stays in the lead? If I switch from company a to company b , will in a few weeks / months company c become a better deal ? Then awhile later will company a make sense once again?Thank you for reading this message.0

We're on npower currently and my cousin moved to Atlantic energy recently. Npower on the phone offered £200 cashback if he didnt leave, so if you really do want to stay with them, ring them up and see what they can do for you.
When I know what consumption we are using, Ill put those details in to comparison sites, but obviously I will also check out a few energy sites as well0 -

I think this is mistaken.
If you do a Uswitch comparison now you will see the following at the top of the results table:
Prices (include VAT) are correct as of 11 March 2010
Surely they would state in the results that announced changes have been included if that was to be the case.
My own Uswitch comparison shows current supplier unit prices identical to a recent EON bill and certainly don't take account the announced end of month reductions.
I will certainly wait until April.if i had known then what i know now0
