  • Are you suggesting that parents should, in some way, be in control of their kids in places like supermarkets?

    Can't see that happening.

(Again at my local Waitrose, it would be a bit like expecting drivers of massive 4 x 4s to park only in one bay. It'll never happen.)

parents put their kids in trollies to stop them running about and having to chase after them or stop them picking things off the shelves.
Im sure people would soon moan if there was lots of toddlers running riot or touching food then putting it back on the shelf.

I'm surprised so many people are concerned about this from a health and safety perspective. A child standing/sitting in a trolley is pretty low risk at the end of the day and the only reason retailers don't allow it is so they cover their own backs if something did happen.

Have they stopped putting those child seat things in trolleys then? If the child is too big to sit in the child seat, they are big enough to be told to stay by the side/hold on to the trolley. Now it seems they just go from sitting in the trolley to having to bring their scooter with them to race around with instead...
I need to think of something new here...

I was in the supermarket a few months ago (school holiday time), and there was a woman pushing her trolley, and in it was a girl of about 13 years old, scoffing a McDonalds meal.
The woman had placed all her groceries around the child, and was struggling to push the thing.
I have a friend who used to let her kid ride in them because she said 'he has a meltdown if I don't let him..' My answer to it was 'tough' make him walk.
Still, I've seen adults sat in them being pushed around the store by their kids. If anybody deserves to be tipped out of the things, it's idiots like that.
I hate to see it though, because you don't know what the kid has had on their shoes, and it's someone else's fault if the kid stands up and falls out.
It's just pure laziness and anything for an easy life.
And, I also don't like the Tesco 'give a child some fruit to eat in the store' policy. Sometimes the trollies are in a disgusting state with half eaten fruit and peel. It's not fair to those who have to use them later.

I could not ever get worried about this. There are dangers EVERYWHERE.

Be careful out there. Hill Street Blues for the uninitiated. But they were the police who faced real danger. LOL.
  • I used to love pushing my kids around in the trolley, without a care in the world............ 'hold on kids, if you fall out its you own fault'............ 'whooo dad, go faster'..........such great fun, how we laughed..now those days have gone.......... A bit of dust on your packaged food??? YOLO, have some fun.
