Looking for advice on selling my wedding dress

I'm trying to sell my wedding dress - it's been on Preloved for what seems like ages (maybe 5 months) but I haven't had any interest. What other sites has anyone used? I'd be really grateful for any suggestions as I could see myself paying to list on different sites without knowing which are best. Has anyone had any success with ebay? I'm not sure if it would work well on ebay as it needs to be tried on. I'd really appreciate any feedback.
(Please let me know if this post is in the right place - I thought I'd posted last night but can't see it anywhere). Thanks very much, Katie

£750 is a lot of money for a second hand dress.
If someone has £750 to spend they are probably looking to buy new & if they are buying secondhand then it’s unlikely they have £750 to spend.
Have a look at what they sell for on eBay, but I suspect it’s more like a couple of hundred.

From the original thread on 'Weddings and Anniversaries':
Hi everyone, I hope this is the right place to ask (please tell me if not!). I'm trying to sell my wedding dress, it's been on Preloved for what seems like ages (maybe 5 months or so) and I've had no sign of any interest. I don't know if I need to reduce the price (it's on for £750 which is less than half what it cost and the dry cleaning cost £125). Or could anyone please recommend any other sites to use (ones that won't cost loads to list the dress, ideally)? Would it be worth considering ebay? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks very much, Katie.
I'd say that asking £750 for a 2nd hand dress that cost a bit more than £1500 is unrealistic.

Kim Kim's suggestion of looking at prices on eBay is a good one, it will give you an idea of how to price it for a sale.
My sister sold her dress on eBay - for much less than half the original cost.
  • I'd echo others that it is priced too high. I bought my wedding dress on preloved, but it was £140 and unworn. If I'd planned to spend £750 then I would have gone and bought a new one that would have been fitted.

What do similar dresses/designers sell for on ebay?

Do you desperately need the money? If not give it into a charity shop and give another bride-to-be a shot at happiness and the money goes towards a good cause.

I was trying to get rid of mines and someone gave me this advice, there's a lot of women out there who can't even afford a second hand one.

I got mine on ebay for around £200 and was almost 2k new.

If you don't need the money now, leave it for a few months on sales then reduce. It will be an item that only certain people will Google. Make sure you have the item number etc on the description. Once if found THE dress, that is what I googgled to get the exact one but cheaper.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • I ended up giving mine away as I couldn't even get £20 for it. People tend not to want a second hand wedding dress and even when they do, they won't want to pay a lot for it.

Oxfam and the Red Cross have specialist bridal shops.

Unfortunately second hand wedding dresses are pretty much worthless, my Wife in the end gave it to the charity shop....
