Good value lcd tv?

Hi there, I've been considering buying this tv for my hubby & I's christmas, http://www.tribaluk.com/detail.php?ProdID=01667077&referrer=pricerunner&utm_source=pricerunner&utm_medium=cpc

I was planning on buying it through a credit card with 12 months 0% interest.

TIA

  • Wait till the 'January Sales'

It's not 1080, only 768. I reckon there should be some better ones around. What drew you to this one?
    .....

  • Not a bad choice if I may so, but you may also want to look at the JVC-LT42DT8 direct comparison, same price inc VAT and del.

there's precious little in the 42" LCD in that price range, of recognisable brands that you might be prepared to trust unless you are prepared to go up to £700!

the res is 1366 by 768. that isnt too bad.

it looks decent to me but you may want to shop around because i am sure you could get one cheaper. i am sure i saw a currys ad in the paper at the weekend for a lg 32 inch widescreen hd lcd tv with a home cinema system and glass stand included for £650.

What the hell are you on about? There's no such thing as "768". It's got full 1080p support.

    yeah support - it'll take a 1080p signal, just won't display it.
  • Thanks for the replies. I've really got no idea about this kind of tv, I wanted to get one to surprise my husband for our Christmas. It's all gobbledeegook to me!

If someone could give me an idea of what I am looking for I would be very grateful.

    TIA

  • Well I know this sounds a bit ridiculous, but do you really need one that size?

A 42" tv really does take over your room, and it really does become the focal point of the room

Will the TV be used for dvds or will a playstation or xbox be plugged in?

The reason for asking is for the same sort of price, you could also get avery good Plasma screen, the 37" Panasonic Viera

See this page for the differences between LCD and Plasma
