Littering fine whilst driving. Never happened

Hi, so I've just come back from work with a letter through my door saying I've been fined £75 for dropping a cigarette out my van window.

There is no direct proof I.e camera footage. I wasnt giving opportunity to pick it up as apparently I was driving, heres the thing though. I use ashtrays and take them home with me, it's a habit to not look a part when I. Outside a customers house. I'd just never drop the fag ends around like that.

Anyway it says on the ticket, I dropped the end and then drove off.. it gave the road name and my vehicle reg.

I'd happily pay it up if it wasnt bollox... basically some coppers walking down a path 10ms or more over 4 lanes of traffic and I've been seen to drop an end out my window.. not having it. Lmao.

Just some !!!! trying his luck at a commission using my reg plate

Is this a parking issue? Maybe try Pepipoo but I don't know if they deal with littering tickets.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Then deny that it happened. Fight it.

  • They have no proof as to who did the alleged littering. They cannot force the registered keeper to divulge who it was (there is legislation to do so, which some councils sometimes cite, but it only covers serious polluting, not cigarette butts). Go to pepipoo.com and search the forums there for "littering". There have been a number of threads over time. Read and learn.
