May well be the way the OP is using the product and if that is the case the staff in store should have looked at the item, not told them to go away and phone customer services as how is someone in a call centre going to determine how the attachments are being secured in place.
Equally the OP states Currys advised they would attempt to fix the unit if they agreed it was faulty which is not inline with the Consumer Rights Act if the OP requested a refund.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0
