So applied for a mortgage through a broker yesterday. He said he thinks that we should have no problems as the mortgage term that we want is 40 years and he said affordability wise that we would be able to do it in 16 years.
However, checked my other halfs credit score today and its teetering on bad and fair on creditkarma, fair on experian and good on equifax. Mine is in the good section on equifax, good on creditkarma and excellent on experian.
Also, there is an agreement for our sofa which we pay monthly which I completely forgot about!! So this has not gone in our application.
I'm panicking now because we actually genuinely forgot.
Few questions - has anyone managed to get a mortgage when their partner has bad credit (no missed payments for around a year but it's because we've moved house 3 times in the past 3 years and one of his credit accounts is close to it's limits)
How long did Barclays take to get back to you after you put in your application?
I'm sat at work pulling my hair out, frantically googling and trying to get myself in zen "what will be, will be" mode but it's not working.

First off, advise the broker about the sofa - the lender will find it and then use it against you by declining the application based on incorrect/incomplete information.
Why are the reports fair/bad - is there a history of adverse credit? If so have you disclosed to the broker to build the best case for you?
Whilst not having used Barclays myself, i hear they can be sticklers.
If it helps, most lenders allow a debt to income ratio up to 40% so unless the credit card is high / salary is low it is unlikely to be a sticking point0
