Im taking her to open a bank account, thinking barclays simply because you get those personalised bank cards and she likes that.
Is there any better/ other bank that she should probably open? Im with Natwest which is the account I opened at 13. So today could be the decider with who she banks with forever really.

Why would it be the one used forever?
Whilst there's switching bonuses and the like going, one should not remain with one bank0 -

Just teach your daughter to be more financially savvy and not make the same mistake you did by remaining with one bank.0 -
The Nationwide FlexOne account is available for 11 year olds up to 18+, pays 1% interest and its debit card has no fees or exchange rate loading for overseas use (so good for any foreign school trips etc):

To be fair theres bigger mistakes in life than not changing banks and I still have time im only 32 and just learning this savvy business
We went to Barclays and he turned us away. I dont think he could be bothered. Got it all set up with Natwest within an hour. As you say she can switch when she's older but it'll be good for her to learn a bit of money management now. Also gives her an incentive to earn pocket money.Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700

With Barclays you usually need to book appointments
They didnt even offer us the chance to make an appointment. He asked who i banked with then said tbh natwest are better than us anyway you're best going there. I was surprised at how eagerly they turned a potential customer away to be honest.Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700

There are bigger mistakes, yes, but you could apply that train of thought to absolutely every mistake except for one which would be the biggest mistake in life. All those under it don’t matter because there’s something bigger.
OR
Realise there’s a better way to do things, spend some time understanding them & then apply this.0 -

Good advice!
Did your "realisation" come independently, or from the 100+ threads you've started this year, asking the advice of others?
If it's the latter can I suggest your demeaning (as I read it) tone towards the OP is a little unjustified.
Not everyone has the time or the personality type to run multiple problems past random strangers.

Surely it's better that they're honest about it though?0 -
More than likely becuase the rep has targets to meet for sign-ups (current accounts, loans, credit cards etc.) that they don't want to waste an hours time on a child account opening?0
