We are there on Saturday and don't intend to do much else other than shop, shop and more shopping :)

Don't forget to buy your day bus ticket before you leave the airport, family 8.50 euros, which will cover all buses for the day but not the open topped tourist bus.

  • To be honest, I was a bit disappointed in Dublin too. however, one thing I would definitely recommend is viewing The Book of Kells (and related exhibition) at Trinity College. Really amazing.
  • Thanks so much you guys. Well we went on Thursday and returned Saturday night and had a really good time despite the freezing cold winds and rain!

The Kilmainham Gaol was really really incredible, really eye opening and full of history. I would highly reccomend this to anyone at 5 euros a visit it is worth that and more!

We also did the open top bus tour and went to the museums and the college. Definately go back again.

The first night we got stung in a resturant and paid 65 euros for 2 of us without drinks. We learnt our lesson and after all meals were no more than 30 euros for 2 of us. Take heed, most places add a service charge on!

Glad you had a good time! I found this thread too late to add my suggestion but if anyone else is looking for similar tips, I'd recommend the DART train up to Howth and down to Killiney, lovely journey mostly following the coastline, you can get out and have a nice (cold this time of year!) walk on the beach. Dun Laoghaire is also a nice place to stretch your legs and get out of the city (DART stops there too).

Any food recommendations from you or anyone else?

We are (probably) going 17-21 December and one of my pet peeves is getting stung for food! I love simple good local food that doesnt cost the earth.
