Upgrading with Virgin at Heathrow Terminal 3

Does anybody know if you can still check in manually at Heathrow Terminal 3 for a Virgin flight? I mean talk to someone instead of either checking in online or using one of the kiosks. I only ask as I'm travelling alone and if there is a chance I could get bumped up I'll wear trousers and a shirt, if not it's jeans for me!

I flew out of there a couple of weeks and was able to check in at a desk.
Beware, they are ultra strict on the hand luggage weight limit of 6kg.Hoping this year is better than the last.0 -
There's an article with tips on bagging an upgrade - please come back and update on whether it worked
How to get a flight upgrade0 -
I would be prepared not to get an upgrade as they don't really give them out that often so just beware. If they do then fair play to you. I used to ask but then stopped as never got anywhere with BA.
Not getting at yourself but why should they give you an upgrade when there are people willing to pay full fare?**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -

Sometimes a flight can be overbooked (in economy, for example) and they may upgrade some passengers to fit everyone on the flight - perhaps in that case it's good to be dressed smartly and maybe ask politely. After all - if you don't ask, you don't get0 -

No offence, but you're not going to get a Y-PE upgrade just for wearing shirt/trousers.
If you're travelling on a discounted economy fare (e.g. Q/X/N etc) then you may as well forget it - especially if you have no (or just Red) status.
In answer to the question, yes you can still check in at a desk rather than kiosk etc.0 -

If you do ask, you definitely won't get.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Obviously if you ask, "any chance of an upgrade", there's less chance of success - being subtle is important too0 -
On a family holiday many years ago I remember being upgraded because at check-in my parents asked for 'any other window seats' when it turned out none were available in economy.
Which is completely different to asking for an upgrade!
Ask anybody who works in the industry, those who ask for upgrades are the least likely to get them.Gone ... or have I?0
