CIS Notice of Legal Action

Hi,
I have been poking about this site and have found another thread titled "Notice of Legal Action" which as of today the poster Wellie80 is in the same state that we are finding ourselves.
We have a Notice of Legal Action from Credit Investigation Services (which arrived one day after the week notice they gave us to pay the £160).
The difference in the situation is that we have never replied to ANY of the letters from NPE, DRP, Zenith, Gladstones or CIS over the almost 3 years they have been trying to get money from us.
This was following CouponMad's advice :
"If you have letters from any debt collector such as Debt Recovery Plus or Zenith and are on the face of it, too late to 'appeal', then (if in England/Wales) either ignore them or robustly respond.
To be clear - I recommend ignoring debt collectors, as the response leads nowhere - certainly NEVER ring them!"
It all started in getting a letter from DRP on the 1/12/16 for an alleged non payment of a parking charge notice from NPE with a date almost 3 months previous which we never received (no windscreen notice, no letters from NPE previous to DRP's one) !!!
Stock letters exactly the same as have been posted many times here on the forum arrived on and off from the companies listed above until August 17 then nothing. NPE and CIS then restarted dated the 26th September this year also with the wrong offence date (same as the other poster) culminating with the Notice of Legal action last Saturday.
I see from the other post that there is nothing for her to worry and if it did go to court you great people will help but my question is, should I have engaged with NPE before this date rather than ignoring all correspondence (which seemed to have worked up until now)
Thanks for your help - I am sorry for bothering you but it would be nice to get some assurance that we are doing the right thing

NRE (used 3 times) or NPE (used once) in your thread. Which PPC is it?
CIS are debt collectors. See the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #4.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Sorry - long day!! It is NPE (National Parking Enforcement) - in fact the only letter we have ever got from NPE is the one on the 26th Sept!!!!! I have edited the original post to remove NRE0

It was from stickie post #4 of the Newbies that I got CouponMad's statement about ignoring all letters or send them one robust response" - I chose the former0
-
Its TNC/ unity services can be ignored0

Thanks Umkomaas and BrownTrout - I was 99.9% sure that we could ignore the sheisters but it is nice to get assurance from you guys!
Me thinks that Mr/Mrs NPE is worrying that they need some capital as Christmas is coming!0 -
Hi received notice of legal action on NPE headed paper but within the letter all payments should be made to CIS as they are now ‘dealing with the matter’ I have until 18/02/20 to pay... (which after reading lots on here I will not be doing) ... just wondered what the next steps are? What happens next. Many thanks. Jess0

Why on earth do people use the term "next steps" its pointless
Follow the advice that has already been given above0 -
I don't know why but 'next steps' annoys me as much as flowchart pictures do!
Anyway, this is the same as all the other CIS /NPE threads. No different advice.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
