The only way for them to practicably do Skye with no car is with a guided bus tour. I'm not sure even if this is an option out of season though

I wouldn't advise an American to go to Wales. It's very unlikely that they will be able to speak the language.

You would be very lucky to find a Welsh-speaker in the Gower, nor in much of Cardiff.

    10 Days.
    The Isle of Skye.
The Isle of Skye in late November.

    These are not a fit.

The Isle of Skye is for people who already live in the UK (no large travel to first arrive, then to leave), who are prepared to sacrifice valuable days for the travel portion....

November.... all the way "up there" there's a high risk of being refused entry/exit, cut off, due to wind/rain/storms/snow/nasty weather/choppy seas/wind/hail......

Travelling to the UK to spend 10 days travelling including days sitting on benches when transport's cancelled, followed by travelling back across the Atlantic doesn't make it a popular choice.

I'd suggest the "go South" option and get to Cornwall on the overnight sleeper train (cabins). London to Penzance, see St Michael's Mount, go up to St Ives/see galleries and Tate Modern, a bit of Poldark locations' travelling (north coast/mine/engine workings), fit in the Eden Project and back on the overnight sleeper. Also consider: day trip to Padstow and a short/day trip to the Scilly Isles.
  • How about a trip to Cambridge? Easy to get to from the London area by train. The railway station is a short walk from the town centre. There’s lots to see in town and it’s well geared up for tourists. Plus, Cambridge is a city that, to be honest, isn’t really a city in the conventional terms. Very pretty, surrounded by accessible countryside. A short trip out of town to the pretty and famous village of Grantchester is highly recommended.

A good suggestion, although I prefer Oxford (a matter of opinion) and the countryside on the way from London gives better views.

Theyre only young . skye is a great visit but I can imagine at least half of their stay would be traveling to and from London . A rail ticket is a great shout with some scenic and cities without the hassle of skye . My daughter and boyfriend have just done some traveling around these beautiful parts . Here is my pick from London . Travel Linclon/York - travel Edinburgh/ Glasgow (maybe head to the highlands or even skye) Travel Lakes/Liverpool - Travel North Wales maybe Snowdonia staying in Caernarfon travel Cardiff / Swansea / oxford . choosing to stay a night or move on on the day . good luck and happy adventures

I'm afraid this is like saying you want to visit New England but also want to include Hawaii.

They might be able to include a 3 day tour from Edinburgh, via Glasgow and Loch Ness. Assuming the tour still runs at that time of year.
Or maybe they need a bus tour around the whole UK - not cheap.

There used to be a cheap hop-on hop-off bus ticket that allowed you to travel around the UK but not sure if it still exists.

Can she get an open-jaws plane ticket arriving and leaving from London and Edinburgh.

Or how about a round bus or train ticket from London to Edinburgh allowing stops at York or Chester?
