I have acquired a Dell Studio 1535 Laptop Model PP33L. The current hard disk is totally wiped with no OS a present. Previously OS was Windows Vista Home Premium.
What would be best option to get it operating again?
Would i install Vista again and then clean install windows 10 using the Windows 10 ISO download method and using gatherosstate to ensure activation?
Maybe i can also change the old HDD to a SSD.

I only ever install W10 now. But you will have to ensure the laptop has enough RAM to cope. SSD will need certain ports to connect to the motherboard, depending on which type of SSD you buy. Laptops are harder to upgrade than computers, why i avoid them.0

Looks like easy access to memory and disk. ssd, memory (4GB max; bios will say much you already have) and cheap W10 license easy to get hold of.

Where can i find a cheap W10 licence? thanks0 -
Less than a tenner on Ebay, £40 Groupon (or if the Dell has Windows7 rights, free)

Thanks....the Dell only has Vista licence.0

You can pay as little as; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Microsoft-Windows-10-Professional-MS-Win-10-Pro-32-64-Bit-Product-Activation-Key/312822255224
The no cost option would involve updating the BIOS, installing Windows 7 64 bit Professional using a DELL re-installation disc and then to use the GenuineTicket method to upgrade.
I imagine that you would prefer to buy the product key and install Windows 10 Pro 64 bit directly to a newly installed SSD.
Upgrade the RAM to 4 GB. £4 from CEX.0 -

Here's the RAM; https://uk.webuy.com/product-detail?id=smemje9gh
You can go up to 8GB, but it's not worth spending £36; https://uk.webuy.com/product-detail?id=smemlap4gb200
Better to spend money on an inexpensive SSD; https://www.mymemory.co.uk/memory/data-storage/ssd-drives.html?dir=asc&order=price and run it together with at least 4 GB of RAM.0 -

The current memory is showing as 3GB. So do i need 2x2gb memory cards to bring it up to 4gb total? What would currently be fitted 2x1.5gb?? I supposed if i opened it up i would see!0
