Old baxi boiler in bedroom

Hi all,
I've just bought a flat with a very old baxi boiler in the master bedroom. I've always had modern combi before and never in a bedroom.
I know the boilers need to be room sealed but I'm not not sure if this one is. Is it legal for a boiler not to be room sealed? I know this boiler has been serviced regularly and it's probably still going well, but I just need someone to tell me whether it's been room sealed before I sleep in there
Edit: as a new user I can uplead images so if someone could explain to me what room sealed looks like I would appreciate a lot.

If you bought the flat, then there would have been a survey if the boiler was dangerously installed this would have been pointed out and the sale not completed.0

My Baxi back-boiler in my living room requires the room to have air-vents and is always flagged as "not to current standard" in my annual service (but the engineers also say it's a solid piece of kit).0

What model is it ?I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Boilers don't have to be room-sealed, but if they're open vented can't be installed in bathrooms, or in a bedroom in a licensed HMO.
I don't think there's a prohibition on open vented in a bedroom that's not an HMO, but please get the boiler serviced annually, and install a mains powered battery back up CO detectorA kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
It had a home report done as required in Scotland. It said the boiler was dated and likely inefficient by modern standard and its important to service it regularly. The report doesn't mention whether it's room sealed.
The sellers serviced it just before we moved in. The engeener that looks after it lives near by. My guess it's illegal to have a boiler that it's not room sealed but I'm always worry about it. I haven't met the engeener yet and would love a second opinion.0 -
I don't know the model. It's 20-30 years old but it doesn't say on the boiler.0

I too have a boiler in my spare bedroom . The surveyor did say it was dangerous , and at the very least to have it looked at by a reputable gas engineer. The engineer said not to worry ,and to go ahead with the purchase of the flat . It's a combi boiler in a Basic wooden cupboard , under the window. The flue going through the outside wall.
Not 100% sure, but is the cupboard the sealed unit?
I would recommend you trace down the make and model of the boiler.
I've had A few problems with mine In the space of 2 years .
I found out that my boiler is around 15 years old and I'll be getting a replacement soon.
If you think that your boiler is say, over 8 years old it may well be best to get a new one . Wish I knew then what I know now . The stress of moving obviously overshadowed things . Having a couple of services from different engineers and neither telling me a straight answer cost me more , but that's life .
As ownain money saver says , get a co2 detector . Also yearly service.
Hope this helps .0 -
No. You can’t have a boiler in a room used for sleeping if it’s above 14kw. If you have a back boiler and fire it’s going to be more than that!
It’s classified as At Risk
If it’s a combi boiler or other room sealed appliance then that’s fine0
