"Disability benefits which have not been subject to the freeze will also rise by 1.7%"
  • PIP has gone up the last few years, I've been on standard rate mobility since 2016 and it started at £22 a week, then it went to £22.65 and it is currently £23.20

I also noticed a small increase this year -don't have the figures
Which matches that bcc artical which states some Disability benefits were never part of the freeze.

I agree, please let’s keep this forum to the practical business of supporting people with their benefit entitlement regardless of who is making the rules and setting the amounts payable.

That said, the rise in non disability benefits by 1.7% does nothing to address the significant decrease in their value since the benefit freeze was imposed.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • I would beg to differ and suggest that the outcome of this election will be more important to people claiming benefits than any other election since 1945, only one party is promising to ditch UC, sack atos and capita and make major changes (for the better) to PIP and ESA.

I agree. TELLIT01 may take a different view. However my point was, as with Dandytf, can we keep such discussions off this forum - that is not what it is for.

(I think the party you refer to is, in practice, promising to reform UC rather then ditch it - perhaps this will be clearer when a manifesto is published.)

Agree this should be moved to a discussions forum.

It would be a shame if Governments in office only increased some benefits because of a General Election taking place. Any increase next year although welcome, might be the only increase for years !
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
