Perhaps we should all buy equity in bunker builders and bully beef manufacturers instead.

Money isn't in shares, thats for sure. Leastways, not the way I deal in them. I had a hefty increase with my A&L shares today, so I decided to quit while I was ahead and sold. They've now gone up 10p!!

Why am I so crap at share dealing? It's almost as though the city boys have a direct link to my PC - when I sell, everyone buys and when I buy, everyone else sells!
It's a conspiracy I tells ya! :rotfl:Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

You need to get an apple mac computer then for the extra 'oooh' factor.
Then, like me, when you lose money, at least you're doing it with a little bit of style

hey dithering dad, be happy with the bit in the middle. I sold all my shares at a profit and certainly didn`t catch the top but then again, I won`t be slip sliding away when the stock market tumbles
It`s nice to be sitting on cash at the moment0 -

Of course there is money to be made in equities. But you need to have a sound basic plan, as well as some grasp of how to value companies. Why am I so crap at share dealing?
At a guess, because you are punting rather than investing...:)0 -
If you catch the bottom or top you are either very lucky or lying.0

Yant, I hope you aren't addressing me? I don't trade, I am a long term investor.0

A good example is the miners today: at one point, Vedanta was up ten (10) per cent; it dropped five per cent; at the close it went up another two. Ditto Rio and Xstrata (but percentage increase/decrease different).BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!
