Flopsy, how would feel if you were advised to sell them all, put the full amount into a low cost tracker that matches your risk appetite, and then do some structured research over the coming months to decide whether there are asset classes you want to increase/decrease or areas (such as equity geographies, market caps, sectors, styles) where you want to be overweight?
  • My only concern with low cost tracker is that when things do crash I think a actively managed fund would be better protected?

Newatc- how did you get lower costs with HL. ?

If the managed fund is lower risk than the tracker that may well be the case. If it is higher risk then it is unlikely to be.

When they introduced the fees, they were open to negotiation to avoid mass exit I presume.

Not sure anyone can comment meaningfully in a vacuum - what is it that you're trying to achieve, i.e. what are your investment objectives and timescales? What's your risk tolerance? What are your preconceptions about strategy and allocation, other than a preference for active management?
  • Objectives are for capital growth timescale of between 10-15 yrs maybe more. My risk attitude is medium to high risk and open to all sectors.

Rationalise the portfolio. Suggest minimum holding of at least £10k in any one investment.

Odd assortment of individual shares held of differing values. Either have a sub portfolio of say 20, or hold none at all.
  • What about the funds I hold I know some need to be sold just gaining more expert opinion
