Automated phone call from Amazon

Got the recorded version of this today. Knew I did not have Prime so didn't choose to "press 1" in case it diverted me to some high priced call centre or something.
Coincidentally (I assume), I've ordered a few things from Amazon recently, not sure if that's a trigger for this.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -

Your phone provider won't charge you for pressing "1". The entire call was an incoming call.
I frequently get the same type of call, supposedly from BT, Talktalk, Visa and Amazon - and I often press "1" to hear what they have to say. They're all scams.
One scammer got really excited because he thought he'd talked me into giving him my debit card details - but I'd just made up a bunch of numbers.
Occasionally, they get very angry when they find out I'm messing them about - and come out with a stream of obscenities.
I guess I justify messing them about on the basis that the more time they waste talking to me, the less time they have for trying to scam vulnerable people.0 -
Thanks Edddy, that is a relief. I seem to get more of these calls since I have retired but guess that is because I am at home more...
Hubby also recently got the email to say he had been looking at !!!!!!, pay up or all this contacts would be informed. Not pleasant if you are a vulnerable person.0 -

There is no identity theft issue, you just received a spam call.
I complained to them on the basis I received a spam call. That is what the reporting tool is for.0 -

Under which section, because none of them would refer to a automated spam call...

I can pick a random category and report my neighbour for singing in the shower...0 -

The part where it tells you to report nuisance calls to Action fraud...?0 -
Sorry what is this all about? I got a nuisance call and reported it to the ICO. What point are you trying to make here?

Because it says to report scam calls to action fraud, not nuisance sales calls. The Amazon call isnt a sale call, its a scam call, which is dealt with by Action Fraud.0 -
