  • @dawn1980 - I think the thread has been a bit quiet this month and was wondering if we were all holding out for the pre / Black Friday sales!! I have my eye on a couple of things, I will probably get one of them, I just have to keep reminding myself I need lots of non-beauty things more!

I'd tell myself there will be more deals and when I finally get to buy to use right now the products will be fresh and not possibly gone off in the stash.
    Eyes enormous stash of doom.

This moment will be some years away.

My updated lists. On the PP list the Moa oil and the Avon hand cream will definitely be finished. On the 7 by Christmas list the Clinique lipstick and the Benefit mascara will be done and I think I will use the Benefit and Bobbi Brown eyeshadows everyday now but I doubt the BB one will look any different.

What are your tactics for avoidance in the upcoming sales?

I know some expensive things I want to try will be reduced. But I know I have several months of skincare left-possibly a year given how much I forget to do my routine. I'm sure there will be other sales in the year. But I usually buy a ton of toiletries in January or in Christmas deals.
I know it's sensible to stock up on HG products but this year I know I have products to last almost through the year. Except hair care.

This is how I do it.

    One UU this morning:

Superdrug Daiquiri Shower Cream 250ml WDBA. This was quite nice, cheap and cheerful.
  • An update for November:

    UU

Dr David Jack serum. WNBA. This was a sample but didn't like how it felt on my face.

Aveda Daily Hair Repair. WBA. Another sample but quite liked the impact on the ends of my hair.

Dr David Jack Night Cream. WNBA. Again a sample but not overly impressed.

Balance Me Rose Body Lotion. WBA. Quite liked the fragrance, this was a gift.

Aveda Shampure Body Wash. WBA. Loved the scent.

    IN

Arran Aromatics Shower Gel. GWP when buying a few presents
Aveda Sap Moss shampoo and conditioner. Free sample
Natural Siberia shows gel, shampoo and hair spray. Gift.

I simply feel overwhelmed by the amount of stuff I have so I don't feel like buying more. Also, trying to save up for a house and feel quilty about what I spent on items sitting in a cupboard..

    I sold couple of things:

2 x hand cream from Loccitane
1 x perfume travel size from Loccitane
    1 x face powder from No 7
    1 x lip balm
    1 x Eyeko fat eyeliner
    ally.

    Great article. Thank you.

If you scroll past the article though there are tons of Black Friday adverts. Irony.

    You will get there!
You are right about having fresh items-I once discarded several *weeping* tubs of Bodyshop body butter as it stank.

I also think some items are seasonal. If I bought a winter moisturiser now, I wouldn't get to it until next winter or even the one after.

With skincare I am at the point now where I get to start using it pretty quickly after buying rather than storing it for an age first. I am a long way off with shower gel and body lotion/butter but they are not as much of an issue as the things you put on your face.
