Then you’ll surely find demand letters on your doormat and eventually your supply will be cut off.
Do you really think that’s the correct attitude to take?
Well that's not really of help is it and I am sorry that you are not able to contribute positively.
I consider that we are being backed into a corner especially as we can't switch until the transfer has occured. No way to treat new customers.0 -
Octopuss have been running the billing for Cooperative Energy since 2018 and were responsible cocking-up the whole billing and meter reading submission system.
All that is happening is that the coop is transferring their accounts across. The tariffs will remain the same as Midshires coop are still responsible for signing up new customers , albeit under the Octopuss brand.0 -
If you are paying into an HSBC account that can be done at the PO, assuming you have a cheque book??0

When Octopuss went belly up, CoOp energy took them over. All the Co-Op are doing is changing their name.
Why do people come on here and post claptrap

Paying over the phone with a debit card is not paying electronically.
Paying in at the counter in an HSBC branch is not paying electronically.
Paying by direct debit is not paying electronically.
Not sure what your real objections to electronic banking are. Things are no more likely to go wrong than doing things manually.
Strange place where you live. A post office (or sub post office), a building society branch but no pay point facility.
Having had a bad experience in the family with fraud and having worked previously for a bank, I know only too well how things do go wrong. I prefer to keep control over my payments and with cards, DD etc you lose control.
There is no paypoint locally (local bus company were going to switch to this for payments until they realised there was only one in the entire city) and yes locally we have a post office, a Lloyds and NatWest and a building society. Not all of us have easy access these days.0 -
I do have a cheque book but they haven't said that's an option and said we would have to go to an HSBC bank to pay in which we don't have.0

We use the PO to pay in cheques, 2-3 days it's usually in our account.. Surely it's the same as paying in at a bank, only you hand it over at the PO counter, deposit it in the HSBC envelope with the pay-in slip, they give you a receipt.0 -

Aren't you making things way too difficult for yourself?0 -
....or going into an HSBC bank and paying into their account (which is unlikely to work as it will go into one big account and not be allocated against our account)
What makes you believe that? Do you not think that, perhaps, they've thought of that? When you pay you give them an account reference which links they payment to your account?Neither he, nor I for that matter, use electronic banking because it causes far too much hassle when things go wrong.I can't be the only one who is sick to death of the obsession with paying electronically.
The world is changing, as it has always done. Those who doggedly stick to the past will (as they have always done) find themselves struggling. There are only 2 ways to deal with this really: Like it or lump it. There might be a few companies left that accept cash payments at the post office, but over time (probably quite soon) they will drop this option.0 -
As above really and you must receive your money in electronically (wages in/pension etc) no one actually pays hard cash in hand any more. The last time I had that type of payment was back in the 80's, you need to move on. And just ease your mind about DD's I had the same train as thought as you years ago, would never use them, now I virtually have everything paid that way bills wise except car insurance/tax and council tax, never had a problem.0
