ATM usage near midnight ?
High value Chip & Pin transaction ?
Could somebody go in to more detail please
i think ATM usage at near midnight would be something along the lines of a max withdrawal amount at 11:58, and another at 00:01. Essentially two days max amounts within a few minutes.0 -
The ATM daily limit refreshes at midnight.
High value transaction: instead of withdrawing cash, a thief with your card and PIN could just buy something expensive (like a car) and either keep it or quickly sell it for cash.
Opening a savings account at the same time as your first current account may be "cross selling" but there's nothing particularly sinister about that - the customer advisor is unlikely to be getting any kind of commission for that recommendation.: )0 -

I've not seen any evidence that Metro are anymore insecure than any other high street bank.
If a fraudster got their hands on your debit card there is nothing as far as I know to stop them from making a purchase with your card online or over the phone when they know the card number and the security code both of which are printed on your card for everybody the see
Anybody know anymore on the subject ?0 -

They usually verify the numbers in the address / post code plus Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode is available too.
They may also analyse the transaction and see if follows your usual pattern or is a high risk merchant. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Building Societies (proper ones, not Nationwide) still let you withdraw cash with just a savings book.0

A recent requirement for further verification is now generally implemented by all card issuers, in the form of a secure code, OTP by text message, or in-app verification, etc.

If I have to pay for something online does that mean that a code will be sent to my mobile by text ?0
