Well then, if you know how difficult it is to change a day off, perhaps the Sellers are also in the same situation.
Apologies - I thought you had exchanged. In which case, it may not even be the Seller who's delaying as she may be waiting on their Solicitor to give the go ahead.0 -
If you're "ready to exchange", that means you haven't exchanged yet, so you have no completion date.
Once you exchange, your solicitor and theirs will agree a completion date (consulting you and the seller). The seller then has to move out on that date (at the latest) leaving you free to move in.
For what it's worth, my advice is, don't try and negotiate dates direct with the sellers, leave it all to the solicitors. It's what you're paying them for, and it'll probably be less stressful.0 -
hell of a lot better to arrange a completion date before exchange, otherwise you could exchange and your seller just keeps delaying and wont give a completion date for ages in the future.0

ThemeOne - that’s not how it works.
On exchange the completion date becomes contractually binding so it must be decided on before exchange. It’s usually the last thing done before exchange, after all the paperwork is ready.0 -

No, completely on the buyers side. By now I'd have told the sellers it's x date or all off unless exchange has happened of course. Don't know what happens if contracts exchanged and the two parties can never find a mutual moving day, anyone know? It's nothing , not nothink.0 -

That would never happen because completion date is contractually set at exchange0 -
Unless it's a new build then the completion date is written into the exchanged contract. It's not possible to actually exchange until the date has been agreed.parkrunner wrote: »Don't know what happens if contracts exchanged and the two parties can never find a mutual moving day, anyone know?0 -
Maybe go for a date further away? You could waste another week or so trying to find a date anyway. Easier to agree on something with more notice. I dont have an important job but I still cant request leave with less than 4 weeks notice (and even then no chance in hell I would get a Monday or Friday).
If you're a couple it may be easier to just have one of you take leave/shift swap and the other go to work as normal to make things easier logistically (we had to do this in the end, not ideal but needs must).0
