The trouble often is you all try to agree a date and by the time one of the parties agrees then you’ll find another one can’t do it because removals are fully booked, etc.
Happened to us - we proposed a date, provisionally booked removals, but by the time someone higher up the chain finally agreed to the date we’d lost our removal slot so the process starts again...

we have no chain either side so it should be such a simple process

so now she cant even do the date she suggested and has pushed it back again 4 days. Im really getting !!!!ed off now!

If you're getting this stressed already, I dread to think how you're going to be on moving day...

    sillyhilly, I'd be stressed too.

Once you get to moving day it's HEAPS less stressful IME. You have some control over the process then and can see things are going in the direction you want. It's the faffing around leading up to exchange that's the truly gut-wrenchingly stressful bit I think.

    OP has my sympathy....

sillyhilly, we are sat, everything in place, ready to move, half the house boxed up, buyer pushing me for dates, working irregular shift patterns and trying to arrange a day we can all do for our seller to come back twice with a 'cant do that date now', i couldent give a !!!! about moving day as everything is exchanged at this point, so please do me a favour and go cast your irrelevant opinions elsewhere, cheers.

TBH I can understand how Jamie is feeling. I may not have expressed it quite so forcefully but I had more than a few moments like that when we were waiting to exchange (under far less provocation).

I don't think seller is doing herself any favours.

Maybe I was wrong. You don't seem stressed at all.

I'm sure Jamie is stressed to all hell and back sillyhilly, but whilst I'm sure your posts are tongue in cheek, it's probably not helping much.

These things can be fine face to face but come across all wrong on a forum.
  • I understand what you're saying Skiddaw, but let's be honest, it's not the end of the world is it? They've exchanged and are ready to complete. Apart from minor inconvenience of amending your day off at work, what's the issue here.

They need to select a mutually beneficial date which everyone would be happy with. He needs to communicate that to the seller. Not get '!!!!ed off' because they may not be able to take time off work on a specific day that is issued at the directive of their buyer (i.e. they could be employed in the emergency services, where they can't just take time off at the drop of a hat).

My initial comment was tongue in cheek, correct - because as I said, when bank transfers don't go through, or you're sat outside a house for hours because the chain hasn't sorted itself out, or the removal van doesn't turn up etc etc etc, that is infinitely more stressful than this small irritation.
