It might have something to do with the addictive nature of nicotine.
There's now lots of ways of getting the nicotine fix which are cheaper than smoking.

Boris Johnson has hired a lobbyist who works for fracking companies to help write the Conservatives' general election manifesto, it has emerged. Rachel Wolf, who lobbies ministers on behalf of shale gas company Cuadrilla. ..

Wow, it was just another Johnson lie.Who'd have thought !!

The Conservative Party appears to have thrown away its reputation for good housekeeping, now that Brextremists are in charge of the party.

You would be hard put to imagine a more useless squandering of £110 million than the ridiculous "Get ready for brexit on 31st October" campaign.
But that is small beer beside cash sunk in no-deal preparation, and that in turn a mere bagatelle beside the £3 billion the country would lose every fortnight with even the most benign brexit.

It's not even that, AIUI it's taking 10% of shares and giving employees a mere £500 in dividends while the state takes the rest. It's basically forced partial nationalisation of private sector companies (UK ones, not foreign ones) disguised to look like an employee profit share.

We get a profit share that's nearly always more than £500, which as with most profit share schemes is discretionary and non contractual, so if this were ever implemented we'd be worse off, and it's unlikely the company would continue with the voluntary profit share when it was forced to hand over 10% to the govt with a few crumbs for the employees.

Genuinely wonder what they are thinking. I mean... Why would there be any decent size company headquartered in the UK if this was on the cards? And who would ever spend one private pound on their shares?

Life will be great when Britain is just like Cuba but without the sun

And of course if it is a good idea to take (steal) 10% of a company for the workers then how could it not make sense to take another 10% to 'save' the NHS?

Umm. Surely a good lobbyist can lobby on any topic regardless of their own views - isn't that is the job description? Have you never had to do anything in your job that wasn't 100% in alignment with your personal views?
    I think....
  • Reasonable people should be able to agree that Johnson is a liar. Wasn’t he fired from a newspaper for fabricating a quote?

Reasonable people should also agree that Corbyn is a Marxist, an IRA supporter and an antisemite.

Just thinking. Every time the Tories announce a general election they also announce increased funding for the NHS. If we could have the Tories in power but frequent general elections we could have reasonable financial policy AND an adequately funded NHS.

People can agree that not only is Johnson a liar and sacked twice because of it, the Tories have as a councillor, a former member of the IRA in Maria Gatland.
Boris Johnson also has a tendency to come out with racist remarks like 'pickaninny' and 'water melon smiles'

To some extent yes he is. However, you can say the same about pretty much most MPs with the current bunch we have. They say what certain groups want to hear even if it is lies or unable to happen.

The problem at the moment is that there are no viable alternatives. Its a choice of one bad bunch vs the other bad bunch. So, you take the lesser of two evils.
  • Worst outcome for the wealth of this country would be a Conservative majority. Activists have infiltrated the Party via Arron Banks and the Brexit Party. Likely consequence of a Tory Govt is the UK defaulting on the bill to the EU agreed by the previous Govt, followed by a another crisis and possible no-deal exit in a year's time.

If you are not a political animal but believe that the Conservatives probably have messed up and deserve to lose power, tactical voting should be considered.

Team Gina Miller is still crunching the numbers on that, look out for information on Remainunited.org in c one week's time.
