Skoda Octavia front tyre wear

I keep a regular, weekly check on tyre pressures and wear, and the fronts on my Octavia need changing. They are Dunlop SP Blue Response and they have only done 15K miles. I know they do a lot of work on the front, but that doesn't seem to be very much mileage at all. The Avon ZV7 which were on previously did 17K.
The wear is pretty even as well.

    Is there a question?

So the Dunlops have given just under 90% of the life of the Avons. Replace 'em with another set of Avons, then. <shrug>

FWIW, Avon/Vredestein/Uniroyal tend to be my mid-price go-to brands.

15k isn't bad, you also don't say what engine and type of driving you do. Don't really know what you are complaining about.

I would be over the moon if got any where near 15k out of a FWD.

Do know a sales rep thats done over 30k with standard fitment tyres, Octavia diesel now 12 months old.

Cant remember in decades getting above 12k but usually 6k motorways, unamed and A roads.

I got to 37k before any tyres needed changing on my Octavia, swings in roundabouts I guess?

What on earth do you drive? I used to get about 17k from my Porsche Cayman rears which included some spirited driving.
  • First front tyre change on my Octavia estate was at 47354 miles - OEM tyres were Continentals, and at that point the tread depth was 3 mm. I put the same on again.

If you swing around too many roundabouts, then wear is very likely ;)

Skoda fit lots of different wheel sizes and lots of different engines so comparison between Octavias is futile.

A 1.4 with 16 inch 55 profile tyres will probably have longer lasting tyres than a VRS on 19 inch rims with 30 profiles.

15" and 65 profile. I may put Avons back on, seems like it is pretty usual mileage then. I will have to tell the missus to stop doing three point turns in the road every day, because that probably doesn't help.

Do you mean she's heaving the steering lock-to-lock with the car stationary? Back in the days before ubiquitous light-as-a-feather power steering, people wouldn't have done that - they'd have turned the steering with the car moving slowly.
