  • But were you fronting? i.e. you've registered as the policyholder and main driver and the insurance company have discovered that in reality, the other person is the main driver of the vehicle.

    Is that what's happened?

    No, I was not fronting.
  • Oh well, there must be a good reason for them cancelling your insurance.

Just contact your bank to get the DD refunded. Job done.

If they say they will cancel in 7 days, won't it be beneficial if you cancel the insurance yourself before the 7 days so you don't have to declare the cancelled insurance subsequently.

OP - Can you please clarify?

Who is the RK? Who did you tell the insurance was the RK?

Who is the main driver? Who did you tell the insurer was the main driver? If not you, how does their age/experience/driving history compare to yours?

    Who is the policyholder?

This really isn't making sense. Insurer don't cancel policies simply because the RK isn't who they were told, especially if the main driver and policyholder are unchanged, and the RK confusion is between a couple.

Most of the replies here have nothing to do with the OPs question.

The answer to which is, phone the insurance company. What other answer could it be?

Phone his bank. He's only asking about how he can get his money back. His bank might be the best place to start. Only if they cannot help him (perhaps under the DD guarantee) should he contact his former insurers.

People are trying to understand the reason for the cancellation, so they can advise* the OP on how to get the situation resolved so s/he doesn't have a cancellation on their insurance record. Because they understand that a cancellation has long-term implications.

*there will always be some who come to admonish.

He was asking how to get his money back. In the time it took to write out the question, post it, and read the answers he got about another question entirely, that he didn't ask, he may as well just have rung the insurers and asked them what had happened.
