Conveyancing (via Purplebricks)

I’m potentially looking to purchase a small property cash via PurpleBricks. I can negotiate via PB and I am keen to keep fees as small as possible. Do I need to involve a solicitor? I’m sure what I need in terms of conveyincing as a cash buyer.

PB are an estate agency. They are not conveyancers.
Whether you want to employ a solicitor or do the conveyacing yourself is up to you, though the very fact that you've asked the question above suggests you do not know anywhere near enough to do it.

Thank you. It was suggested to me by a friend that as a cash buyer via PB (in Scotland) that I would be able to do conveyancing myself, however yes clearly there is still a process and maybe it’s best to leave to a local solicitor before putting in an offer via PB.

I bought my last three properties with cash and wouldn't have remotely considered doing the conveyancing myself. Some money saving ideas are really not worth the hassle or risk.Every generation blames the one before...

^ This.. I haven't needed mortgages for many years either on personal or commercial properties, there has never been a time when I would consider not using proper conveyancing solicitor and always used the same company.
The only time possibly I would do it if I was selling only but even then for the small cost I would still probably engage in one0 -
I bought the property I'm in now with cash.
While I'm reasonably savvy and can usually decipher legal documents when forced into it, all the faults with the title on this place weren't picked up by me. With a combined effort, it was a draw, 2-2, but to be fair the solicitor didn't see the place, so couldn't know what had changed. So glad she found one thing in particular;would have been a nightmare otherwise.
I wouldn't expect PB's legal dept to be fast out of the blocks, so a good solicitor on your side might help things along.0 -

Some solicitors separate out the fee for acting for the lender, but I wouldn't expect any significant discounts. Just think like a mortgage provider, you need to protect an expensive transaction.. a mortgage provider has numerous checks to go through, which should be the same as a cash buyer .
Get a reputable solicitor you can visit in person and not from a conveyance factory0 -

I certainly will, at the same time the purchase price for this property is very small and I’m aware of most of the details and the seller himself is a person of good repute. I don’t want to invest a large amount in solicitor fees if it’s unnecessary.i appreciate I am maybe contradicting myself a little here.0
