I checked AO.com and they said delivering up steps is at driver's discretion and depending on weather.
    Thanks

That means you have to bung him £20

I bought a full sized Samsung fridge freezer (not one of the American double door style ones) from John Lewis in the black friday sale last year. I stay in a top floor flat too (4th floor, no lift) and they delivered it into my kitchen and took all the packaging away. I made it clear to the salesperson that it was 4th floor, no lift before I bought it and they had no issue with it. The delivery guys did leave it in the centre of my kitchen though as I had to cut a skirting board to get it to fit in the space, for obvious reasons they won't do any modifications for you.

But if you're happy with the Hoover unit, I'd look into getting the seal replaced since it's a lot cheaper. And if it still doesn't work, then go for a new one with no real financial loss. It's possibly a manufacturing defect that caused it to fail early and non-genuine parts can be just as good as the original.

bundance - before you jump into replacing the unit.

Get a local repair man to come - go to an independent supplier and see if they can arrange for their fitter to call around. (Give us the town you are in and someone will recommend a itter)

In the last 12 months we've had a local engineer replacing an element in a 20 yo NEFF oven, a pump in a 15 yo Bosch dishwasher and a door hinge on a 20 yo Bosch washing machine. No problem in getting parts.

Trouble with that is it's a gamble. They tend to charge just to come and look. You may end up paying £50 to be told it can't be fixed.

This fridge is only two years old - I can't believe that gaskets are not available. (or even that they have failed.)

OP - could you give us the model numbers please - the full E No which will be on a plate or sticker.

  • I got a fridge freezer delivered from Argos earlier this year, and they had no problems delivering it to my 3rd floor flat. It was a big fridge, and they took it right into my kitchen. I phoned them before I ordered to make sure and the woman said as long as the stairs are in good condition they could deliver.

    Hi
Here's my exact model link https://service.hoover.co.uk/advice-centre/fridges-freezers/hsc574w/
I thought about using other spares sites, but I cannot be sure if they are genuine spares.

They don't have to be - your fridge is well out of warranty, but this site says genuine spare parts

whether it's worth spending that amount of money on new seals is another question.

To be honest I'd pick up generic seals if they'll fit - they usually only magnetic rubber.
