I am trying to sort through my 1000's of .jpg image files - to get rid of duplicates
I have tried several utilities (including Duplicate cleaner free) - and cannot find any that will sort out image files - they do documents and sound files - but need upgrading to deal with image files !
Any suggestions ?

if the duplicate sort criteria is name, or content for duplicates, then i would use Searchmyfiles from nirsoft0

Didn't Picasa dedupe photos? No longer supported but still available afaik"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

If you have any problems with Picassa, Ccleaner has a Duplicate Finder if you look under Tools.
Unless you particularly want to search the whole of your HDD you can narrow down your search by Name, Size, Modifies Date and/or Content and even by an individual drive or folder.
Best to back-up the relevant files/folder first before removing any so-called duplicates just to be on the safe side.0 -

You can actually choose the location and file type...0

Searchmyfiles will search for duplicate content. It can search across multiple drives, partitions, and paths. It also searches subfolders if you wish, even if they have a different name0

Ccleaner does not search on actual image - just image name and file size
If you have two totally identical .jpgs - with different names - it will not delete one of them
but if you have two different .jpgs with identical names - it will
My problem is the former !!0
