Late Payments on Credit File

Hi all
I’m after a bit of advice on how successful you have been in getting late payments removed from credit files as a goodwill adjustment.
I have 2 late payments recorded by 2 separate credit card companies (Tesco and AmEx) in late 2017 where I didn’t make payment on time. It was completely my fault - I was going through a redundancy process at the time and panicked and I appreciate most people with take the stance of “well it should be marked as late as it was late!” However I have seen online where people have had these late payments removed as a goodwill adjustment (rather than a Notification of Correction) and as I’ve never had a late payment before or after with either of the credit card companies I thought there would be no harm in at least trying as I want to apply for a mortgage.
Has anyone done this before and can you offer some advice?
Thanks

You may have been able to get it changed at the time, but not two years later.
Two oldish late payments won't be the end of the world for a mortgage as long as you now stay on top of things.0 -

Just stress how it was your fault, how it was a one off, and seeing how it was a single occurrence, ask for the marker to be removed, purely as a goodwill gesture. Be ultra polite, accept the blame and you never know, you may get a positive result.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

You can make a complaint about anything to your lender, as long as its within 3 years from the time it occured (Financial ombudsman stats).
Be contrite, say you know its not their fault but.....on this occasion would they see fit to remove said late marker.
Worst they can do is say no, if its a first time complaint and your account is in otherwise good order, they may do so as a goodwill gesture, if they say no, its not the end of the world.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I would have thought that the lenders' subscription to the principles of reciprocity would prevent them altering true facts at all, let alone some two years later.
That said, if each of the lenders looks at the OP's credit history for the period in question they will see that their own missed payment wasn't the only one recorded that month.
On that basis, if one or both lenders do remove the markers you've had one heck of a good result...but don't build your hopes up!0 -
Two isolated late payments two years ago on an otherwise unblemished payment record should have a minimal negative effect0

ive had success removing late payments from about a year or two with some companies. But others have said no. It really depends who you speak to and whether they are a in a good mood or not. Ive had to esculate my complaints right to the top0

All this factual reporting.
Must be complained about and removed to make you look good right?0 -
How can a valid complaint be made against something that is factually correct?0
