I think it depends on the age of the car .

I got offered £750 for my 12 year old CMax. This was before they had seen it, and even though I put the condition as fair (it was rather scratched) I’m sure they would have knocked more off.

The small independent dealer offered me £800 for trade in, but I sold it privately for £1250 which Autotrader suggested was a fair price for condition and mileage.

They don’t seem to want older cars so offer much lower prices.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Absolutely disgusting customer service

I logged in and got a valuation

I flagged up that I had no V5

I got an advance call from Stirling and explained the issue

They advised me it was not an issue and the Aberdeen salesman would deal with it

    I got to Aberdeen office

I was told in no uncertain terms that he wouldn't buy the car without a v5

I explained that his colleague stated differently

He immediately went defensive and raised his voice to emphasise he wasn't going to buy the car

I went outside and phoned the other gent who said he would phone Aberdeen and sort it out

I went back in and explained this to the salesman, his body language and attitude was all negative and he seemed to think I was challenging him in some way

I tried to discuss that the problem was obviously in the system somewhere and not personal at which point he told me I was giving him attitude and started shouting at me

I stated that he should not be raising his voice to me at which point he asked me to leave the office

He then told me to get in my car, I pointed out he did not own the ground I stood on (Asda Car Park)

I tried to phone the original caller but they are no longer answering my calls

    Disgusting way to treat customers

Avoid the Aberdeen office whatever you do

When I wanted to sell my Focus last year I went on WBAC and Evans Halshaw. EH gave a better valuation. Booked EH for the next day (Sunday) and WBAC for the Monday. I took my car to EH on a the Sunday at midday and walked out less than half an hour later with a price that was slightly less that their initial offer, but still several hundred pounds better than WBAC initial offer. Cancelled the WBAC appointment, stating I had sold the car. They still phoned me up a couple of times the following week asking to value it!!!

I sold mine through WBAC, they did knock money off the online valuation but I managed to negotiate some of that back. This was helped by the fact that the customer for next appointment turned up and was sat waiting. I was in no hurry to leave so let him phone his manager (twice) and then play around on his computer with "valuations". The next customer was starting to huff and puff and get impatient but I kept smiling and repeating what I would sell for. Eventually he agreed (probably just to get rid of me). I got more than I expected to be honest and the process was pretty smooth and efficient and I ended up better off than part exchanging my car.

I was told they prefer cars under 6 years old, so when they sell them through their supermarket they are under 10 years old when the 4 year finance ends.
Anything older than that just goes to auction.
  • I got my VW Scirrocco valued by them and when i took it to them because it had the tiniest chip on the bumper  they wanted to knock me down £200 and then you have an admin charge ..... not as good as they seem!
