My John Lewis warranty wasn't worth the paper it was written on.
Didn't you earlier say you bought from Argos?

Nevertheless, I think third party internet services are specifically excluded from such warranties..

If you went to Argos with your John Lewis warranty it’s no surprise it was useless

Perhaps that might be true for some TV's but not the LG TVs with WebOS. The built in apps and networking support is superb and better than Chromecast and Firestick addns.

A Chroimecast Pro is currently our backup solution, but keen to keep it only temporary solution.

Maybe so. I have not owned a high end smart TV. However, in the early days of such things I did have a top end smart BluRay player as a means of getting BBC iPlayer, etc. I was very disappointed by how quickly it became out of date. Some smart services were promised as "comming soon" but never arrived and the ones that were there gradually became obsolete. That rather put me off having it built in. So I have both a Chromecast and a 4K Firestick.

As I said I agree yours should work properly and if it is a hardware issue then two years does seem an unacceptably short working life. However that still leaves you with the problem and hassle of getting anything done.

I am not clear, have you contacted Argos (as that is who your contract is with) and if so what did they say?

Unless there was an extended warranty provided by LG, in addition to your statutory rights against Argos, they are not obliged to do anything and can just quote for a chargeable repair. It is unlikely they will admit there is an inherent fault so you would need to get evidence of that, initially at your expense, from an independent expert. If you manage to get that then you can probably force Argos to arrange a free or reduced price repair and refund the report cost. If the fault is inherent but the average life is, say, five years they may be able to only pay three fifths of the cost.

I have no experience of Argos but I imagine they will have a contract with an independent repairer. Near me, the firm that John Lewis use also work for Richer Sounds, the CoOp, etc etc.

Annoying as it is only you can decide if it is worth the hassle.

Of course not, as per the original post, my phone, which I purchased from John Lewis also had problems, the John Lewis was "support" was useless.

Sarcastic replies like yours are what's killing this site.

I'm afraid you've only yourself to blame for injecting confusion by talking about your JL warranty.

The site seems to be doing fine, by the way. If you don't like it, I'm sure there are other forums available. Close the door behind you, please.

    "killing this site"
    Really?

The MSE Forum is one of the UK's biggest social networks. It has more than 1.8 million members, and at any one time, thousands of users are discussing ways to save, as well as supporting and motivating each othe
MoneySavingExpert.com is the UK's biggest consumer website, with about 16 million users a month.
In 2018, MoneySavingExpert won Brand of the Year at the Drum Online Media Awards, Organisation of the Year at the Protection Review Awards, and a gong for blogging at the Shomo Awards. MSE was also named Personal Consumer Website of the Year at the Santander Media Awards in 2015, and was runner-up in the Financial Consumer Website of the Year category at the same awards in 2016

I bet that there are plenty of other forums whose owners wish that they were being killed in the same way as MSE.

Perhaps only 1,799,999 members now, with only 15,999,999 users next month.

    It's dying.

I missed the mobile phone bit, thought the post was about a TV.

As for killing this site, you have been a member since June has it been dying since then?

I have been a member since 2004 and it has got bigger and bigger in that time so don’t think it’s me that’s killing it
