How much does SP30 affect your insurance?
I've earned three of those magic points that you get when you break the speed record.
As a young driver I am a bit concerned about insurance on next renewal...
I have heard some people say it hasn't affected them, others say their insurance went up hundreds of pounds.
Then again, insurance should theoretically be based on objective stats of what groups of people have more / more value claims, and I don't know its necessarily true that people with an SP30 conviction make more insurance claims.
Has anyone here got experience of how much it affects you insurance?

I got three points,, when I phoned my insurance, the chap I spoke to said it would go up quite a bit, and gave me a renewal quote, which was quite high, when I pointed out that I had found cheaper quotes he soon lowered it, to a more reasonable cost, in the end it wasn’t that significant, but I’m probably considerably older than you0

I think you have to notify your insurers now, not wait until renewal.Signature on holiday for two weeks0 -

It all depends on the insurers.
Admiral for instance state that you only need to tell them of any motoring offences when you come to renew your policy.

Please tell us when you renew your insurance of any motoring offences including fixed penalties or convictions you or any driver on your policy had during the year, or any pending prosecutions. You will need to tell us of the DVLA offence code if applicable0 -

Nope, but it's pretty standard procedure to have to notify your insurer of a change of circumstances. They can be anal about something as safe as putting winter tyres on, so if the OP wants to take a chance that he's still covered until renewal without notifying them, good luck.Signature on holiday for two weeks0
