What is your target market?
What is your business case?
What type of property?
What alternative applicants have you?
How much is the rent?
How would you expect a student to pay rent (if not with a student loan)?
etc0 -

What do you think the loan is for?
(I mean I used mine for beer and other substances)...0 -
So I assume your previous tenant's cousins all moved out in the end yes?
Are you using a letting agent? If not, I strongly advise that you do - and I say that as no fan of agents.
But the difficulties you had with the previous tenant, and the limited understanding you displayd of tenancy law generally, suggests you need help with your lettings.
If not an agent, are you at least a member of a LLs Association?
I applaud you desire this time to check you are letting to a suitable tenant, but I think you need professional help.0 -
Does your landlord insurance allow you to let to students?0

What should she use her student loan for if not to pay rent... I thought that was what it was for.
When I went to uni I received my loan at the beginning of the term and paid the terms rent upfront..
Only issue is students like renting by the term and acting in summer so you get upfront rent every term but a void over the summer0 -
Are you aware that students receive money towards their rent within their student loan? That's what its for, as well as a smaller sum towards maintenance (essentials like food etc) and other things like Fees which are paid directly to the university.
If a student doesn't use the student loan to pay rent so they can have a roof over their head, what do you suggest they should use to provide said roof?0 -
Its mostly digital now I think. My son didn't buy a single book for his degree course.
I still have some of mine lol.0 -
Every student will use their student loan to pay the rent. That is the point of the student loan!
You are either happy to rent to students or you aren't, it depends on your business model and the type of property.0 -

From the standard of English in the OP, I doubt the OP has any idea what a business model is. Heaven help his tenants and heaven knows what artful would make of his "business model".0
