EDF: MSE quote incorrect.
So the Big Switch tells me I can save £2 a month by switching from EDF to a "startup" supplier.
*I have been with EDF for almost 9 years now. Great customer service, flexible tariffs, paperless. Paying £85 a month for Dual Fuel.
*Not going to switch and lose that to save £2 a month with a company that may well be gone by this time next year.
*Out of curiosity, I ask the BS page to find me the cheapest EDF tariff. Quoted £107 a month! Who is out of touch here?
Every time I have entered the BS process, I have had a similar result. And yes, my Annual Consumption details are checked and updated, I included VAT.

I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

It's all meaningless without the full facts: area, existing tariff (including unit and standing charges), annual consumption.0

Is this what what you mean? -
*Area: East Lincolnshire.
*Existing Tariff: Blue+Price Freeze May21v2 includes unit & standing charges.
*Annual Consumption: Electricity 1,259 KWh. Gas: 1,998KWh.
Why meaningless? I gave a precis of the fact that MSE's EDF quote is incorrect, because they had not looked at all the relevant tariffs. And I am not the only one on this forum to mention MSE BS giving incorrect quotes, btw.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Still not enough info (no postcode, no unit prices, no standing charges) for forumites to work out what you are currently paying per year and to compare that amount with what you would be paying on a different tariff. Is this what what you mean?
You may well be correct, but without all the evidence nobody can be sure.0 -

That's a very expensive tariff!0 -

Are you sure these are correct ?
In my area (West Midlands) EDF would cost £457 a year -- SP £396
I think he got the numbers wrong (decimal point or month rather than year), We used 2,669 kWh leccy and 14,496 kWh gas a year with EDF and paid about £100/month
I used to read the MSE email but stopped as I realised that often (as when you compare by hand or other sites) gives you some unknown company as top result that I don't want to risk going too. So I just went back to checking myself every half year.01/26: OD £1200 600, CC £3914 3317, family £3100, loan £5618 5306- total: £13832 12323, mortgage £58,243 £57,7660 -
You do realise that gas meters don't show kilowatt hours?*Annual Consumption: Electricity 1,259 KWh. Gas: 1,998KWh.0 -

But it does on the bill which I guess he's used like I did to post my numbers above01/26: OD £1200 600, CC £3914 3317, family £3100, loan £5618 5306- total: £13832 12323, mortgage £58,243 £57,7660 -
Hands up, my bad! I misquoted, gave a period figure instead of the Annual. This is annual consumption:
Electricity: 3,667kWh
Gas: 9,467 kWh.
And gas is given in kWh on the bills and on the Consumption document.
I am NOT giving a postcode here Gerry1 and I object to your asking for it. I live in East Lindsey Lincolnshire, which is part of the East Midlands region. I do not need anyone else to compare prices for me, I already did that with the (incorrect) MSE BS process, which obviously does not work. I am quite content to carry on with EDF and will no doubt soon be offered other tariffs by EDF, to make a choice. As I said in my OP, I have been with them almost 9 years and I value the customer service. Saving £2 a month to switch to one of the smaller suppliers that may be gone next year, is a no-no.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

If you needlessly take offence when people are politely giving their time trying to help you with your complaint, you won't get much help in future !I am NOT giving a postcode here Gerry1 and I object to your asking for it.
Obviously a partial postcode would have sufficed, or you could have made it easy by saying it was the East Midlands region right from the start.
You need to provide sufficient evidence to justify your allegations that MSE is wrong. So far the only mistake seems to be yours, quoting your annual gas consumption as a mere 1,998kWh.I do not need anyone else to compare prices for me, I already did that with the (incorrect) MSE BS process, which obviously does not work.0
