Three ending AYCE contract had for years, rubbish replacement offer

Just had an email from Three saying the contract I have had for about 10 years is being discontinued. For £13 I was getting unlimited data, 5000 texts and I think 200 minutes (might have been 300 - I only ever used the data). It has been hardly used in recent years as it’s in my spare fall-back phone in case my main one breaks or gets lost, as I am away a lot and rely on it.
Anyway the ironic thing is they are planning to move me to a 4GB contract for £16 a month. So £3 more (plus annual RPI increases that I didn’t have on the current plan) for a comparatively small amount of data.
Needless to say I won’t be accepting this. Luckily I just got a Giffgaff SIM after the Three outage, so will get my PAC and move my number there.
I have several Three accounts on iPads and other phones, having been a loyal customer for many years, so not impressed with this blatant price hike.

Three will probably make a better offer to match the most suitable cheapest plan you can find with another network, when you ask for your PAC.Evolution, not revolution0

I was thinking of rationalising my various contracts anyway as I am not getting the use out of them, so they have done me a favour. Hard luck on anyone who only has that old contract though.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Just what I was going to say, you've been wasting £13 a month for literally years. You should thank them when you ask for your PAC. If it is just a backup why not just swap the sim over if needed rather than have an active phone (even on PAYG)?0 -

Because I had a phone die on me once and I was stuck without it. Faffing about swapping sims over on public transport is not something I relish. Also having two phones on me overcomes the low battery problem. And yes I do have a portable battery pack but it’s just a convenience thing.
I know I waste money, that’s why I am determined to change my ways, but I will still be keeping two contracts as I don’t want to be reliant on one network provider.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

My wife was on a similar contract and they sent her a choice of 3 planes and she took unlimited data/text/calls for £18 12mth contract so she was happy because she was paying £16 for for less mins and text also she gets more teething...But like you said she mainly using data.
I think most people want the Data more then anything else.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0 -

Loyalty is a concept that mobile phone companies have not believed in for some time.0 -

I have four sim only deals paying £6 each 600 minutes and ayce data not received any text letter or emails been with three only 10 months.
Last week outrage I complained and got £20 credit onto my four accounts your best choice go on live chat explain to them you feel very unhappy with this decision and kickup a fuss.
Needless I complain to them twice each month that why they cannot be bothered with me. Lol0
